I'm looking to put together a kid friendly route for my family and friends this summer in the Rocky Mountains.  Here are some things that I think make a kid friendly backpacking trip.
  • Cool things to see, you know, like Old Faithful
  • Water, swimmable water even better
  • Campsites with Bathrooms at least every other night
  • Doable distances,
  • Limited interaction with automobiles
  • Limited climbing
  • Limited single track

My current strategy is to find a big park  --two big parks near each other would be even better --and string together a couple of campsites via fire roads.  This is going down the last week of July and the first week of August.

Any recommendations, advice, etc is appreciated.

Check out Aaron Teasdale's trip he did a couple summers ago with his wife and 2 kids on the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. It's at least some good inspiration: http://aaronteasdale.blogspot.com/2011/11/one-family-goes-big.html
