CT - Which Lost Creek detour

Doing a 10-day CT a week from now, and I've not ridden any of the trail east of Kenosha. I noticed the guidebook (8th edition) shows a much longer southern detour around Lost Creek Wilderness, whereas the CTR route is north through Bailey.
I'm inclined to take the southern route, any reason not to? We will ride this section on a Sunday so that in itself seems a good reason to avoid 285.

The other detour consists of nothing but fire roads and it travels through the burn area. There's not much there. I personally don't feel that 285 is all that sketchy but I normally do a lot of road riding. You didn't mention which direction you're riding so I'll assume a start in Denver.
At the end of Segment 3, you will pop out on CR 68. To take the Taryall detour you will want to turn left. Very soon you will arrive at Wellington Lake (on your right). After that you will climb up Stony Pass Road (a bump really). Shortly after this you will begin a really nice downhill. After the downhill you will turn right on Goose Creek Road (also FR 211). Eventually, this will put you out on Taryall Road. This is paved and it heads northwest through Taryall, past Taryall Reservoir. Stay on Taryall Road at the reservoir. You will turn right onto a fire road (CR 39) also called Rock Creek. I remember there being a boatload of offshoots back there but it winds around a ways and you eventually turn left on FR 133. The CT intersects 133 a mile or 2 down and then you'll hang a left on the trail and climb up through Johnson Gulch before finally descending down to the campground at Kenosha Pass.

Not concerned about safety, just want to maximize the fun.
Consensus seems to be that there is nothing on the south route worth an extra 50 miles so Bailey it is.
