Bike packing from Winnetka in San Fernando valley to Sycamore Cyn (Point Magu).
First ever. Late notice but you have time to plan it and join in. Route will be mainly on the BBT. I'm gessing about 65 to 70 miles each way about 12 will be paved.
Stay tuned for the RR

Awesome!  I did my first bikepacking trip on the Tahoe Rim Trail this weekend.  I will post soon.  Anyway, I discovered the same issue you did - get the weight off of your back and onto the bike.  My weight was a bit less than yours.  I bought a postal scale and got all militant about gear.  I ended up, for a two night trip, with 6lbs under the bars, 6 lbs in the seat bag and 18 on my back which was still to much.  Time to call up Relevate or Carousel and get a frame bag.  Looking at your set up, I have a few questions.  What kind of system did you use to carry you bike?  I have a section of wilderness I need to get through next time.

Thanks Aslan
My pack in an Asymetric 30L from Camelbak. Like most packs it has 2 strips on the side to cinch the weight down. I just open those up and ran them through the frame. I tried it at home BUT the pack was empty and it wasn't too bad. Out there it was way too heavy. The total gear including bike was 55 pounds, minus the wheels I had about 50 pounds on my shoulders.
