Has anyone done any bikepacking in norway? looking for information on possible routes and ideas for a trip, probably next year so very much just at the drawing board at the moment.
Are there any established long distance routes? it looks like it has scenery crying out exploring off road by bike.

The extensive trail system is to rugged for bikes. The hut to hut looks good on paper. I have biked extensively around fjords near Stavanger, all the off road is short or dead ends into hiking. Now the bike packing is great, but knobbies are not necessary, I suggest taking a ferry to lysebotn and climb out. Don't know about the east, but the beauty west has some unbelievable roads around the fjords. Looking forward to reading the links above, I will be there next summer for 3 weeks in June and have some extra space, tons of free seafood and good times road biking.

I'm familiar with that report.

See the last two lines:

"I will not recommend bike trips like this. Firstly: It is extremely hard work; secondly:It is to import unfamilar technical elements into a relatively unaffected nature.

Have a nice trip at Hardangervidda - as a hiker ! "

But that is with 1989 gear.  Rack, Panniers, etc  I bet with a full suspension bike and UL bike packing setup, it might be less impractical.  Maybe... thumbsup

If anyone wants to pay my way, I'll give it a try! headbang
