Wow, small world!

I just registered to ask about the C&O myself but am hoping to go out on Sat/Sun near Harper's Ferry or Shepherdstown.

I've done a bit of backpacking but never incorporated the bike and am stoked to try it out!  I figured that the C&O would be a nice and easy test plus the weather is looking really nice.

Good luck on your trip & please follow up with a post ride report!

The GAP as the whole thing is know from Pitss to DC is awesome.  A no brainer. Requires very little planning with campsites every 10 miles.  Just be aware that water is actually scarce after they pull the pump handles in fall.

That said, the more research you do the more you'll get out of it. Great accomidations, guest houses, and historical sites along the way.

Also, I highly recommend finding the allegheny passage yahoo group. Extremely helpful. great place to ask questions.
