Sacramento to Tahoe Dirt

Ive got a California Atlas that I've been trying to map stuff out on.

Trying to figure out a fun way to get from Sacramento to Tahoe(dirt prefer) to hit the TRT and then back. Wondering if anyone has done this.

Check out the California Sierra Trail Race put together by forum member Sean Allen. Auburn around Tahoe and back. It's a great route. I think it's changed a bit over the years due to fires. Search around a bit and you should be able to find the info.

The El Dorado Trail goes from outside of Folsom to Placerville and beyond.  Its mostly dirt along an old railroad line.

The Pony Express trail parallels Highway 50 from Ice House Rd. to Echo Summit.  I don't know how to connect the two trails, but there must be a way.

You can't get to the PXT at Pacific House because the bridge is gone.

Check out the commute crew on face book. They rode a route from Tahoe to SF.
