Teton Area Bikepacking

If you had 4-5 days to bikepack near the Tetons, where would you go? Long days are fine. Any suggestions, map info, gpx tracks greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I would base out of Victor/Driggs on the Idaho side of Teton Pass. Avoid the foolishness in Jackson. Don't know about routes near there but I know there a ton of sweet trails in the area.

look into the Wyoming Range- near pinedale. Awesome opportunity there, me thinks.

Last fall, I road tripped out and met up with a friend from the mid-west in Driggs.  We just did day rides, but I would second LTrain's comments.
Although, this east coaster never expected all the wheat fields in the valley!

In some places, you have to mindful of wilderness areas.   This area was SE of Jackson (I would have to look up the name) and was more of a bunch of horse trails.

That pine bettle is doing a number.


We were out there in early September:



I would stop in Jackson.  There are trails that lead right out of town, you can loop around or/over the Snow King (?) sky area and hook up with a bike trail.  There is also a some fun trails on the pass between Jackson and Driggs.

I have done a few bikepacking trips in the Wyoming Range and recommend it if you are looking for a true wilderness experience.  BUT, there are very few trail users and the trails are sometimes very faint / non-existant, deadfall and swamps are common, and the insects can be fearsome.  The trails do not get much maintainence by the Forest Service so best to stick to the main trails (Wyoming Range National Recreation Trail).

The trails in the Big Hole Mountains on the Idaho side are more user friendly and also have more peeps out riding dirt bikes.  Awesome views of the Teton Range.

If you want more of a 2 track cruising type of trip, there is a web of old logging roads around Mt Leidy in the Gros Ventre Range that are worth exploring with lots of wildlife to be seen.  Best access from the Blackrock Ranger Station on Togwottee Pass.  Bring bear spray!

There is a huge amount of public land here but much of it is wilderness or national park.
