Hi all.
Was hoping somebody may have some advice on routes in french alps and the best months for a 5 to 6 day bike packing trip. Can average about 80 /90 km ofroad in UK so guess 60/70 km for alps factoring altitude difference etc.  cheers

You can try a part of the pre alps trail "le chemin du soleil"     http://grande-traversee-alpes.com/chemins-du-soleil  or la Grande Traversé du Vercors

In France you have two national associations which had built nationals trails FFC (competition)  and FFCT (Tourist) .  "Grande Traverée"   (long cross ) is a trade mark of FFC, for instance GTJ (Grande Travesée du Jura) or GTMC (Grande Traversée du Massif Central) . So FFCT should use others words, for instance TMV Traversée du Massif des Vosges.

I think the GTA is a bit tame.  It keeps out of the biggest mountain areas.  Around areas that will be silly-hot at the height of summer.

I did send all the data, maps etc to a guy to put on the WWW but not sure it's up yet,
