Hi guys

I'm departing from Prudhoe Bay, Alaska on 26/06/2013 on a year long journey to ride the length of the Americas with the intention of riding all the way to Usuhaia, Argentina.

I'm riding this in a bikepacking style to help the weight down and enjoy riding a bike rather than being a beast of burden as so many touring cyclists seem to these days.

I'll be hitting Banff around second week in August and it would be great to hook up with anyone else planning on departing around a similar time, or if you fancy riding part of the route with me.

Also any info on the Central America part of the trip would be greatly welcomed.

My blog is: www.mikehowarth.co.uk, I'll be riding with a Spot tracker so you should be able to judge my progress along the way.

All the best

Mike

Mike, great trip plan man! Kudos to you for doing such an epic trip in style! I'm actually pretty interested in a TD-style ride (both in size and makeup of road/trail surface). I've had a pretty hard time finding any good quality topo maps that will get you all the way from Southern Bolivia to Ushuaia. Have you had any luck or do you have any intel on that terrain? I looked at Ride the Spine but there's not much true beta on that chunk, plus they seem to have given up on dirt tracks in favor of finishing by that point.

Very intrigued by this thread, but then clicking on your blog - are you back home? Looks like you rode the Himalayas? Still epic - I'll be reading your blog this evening. Hope you get to ride the AK - AR thing. That's beyond epic. What would that be, 6k miles?
