Headed to Chile for a month and plan to bikepack. Debating between my mtn bike and cross bike, but likely the mountain bike. Any suggestions on areas, routes?

I'm in Chile right now, I was thinking about planning a huge biking trip from one end to the other when my contract runs out in March of 2013. If you still need a partner by then, or if you make it here before then and need a place to stay in Puerto Varas, let me know. I work in a hostel.

Check out the Sendero de Chile. Haven't done it myself and I'm not sure how much is complete but a web search shows people biking sections of it.
