Hey Guys,

Looks like I could be heading over to Canmore as support for the 24hoa worlds in Sept next year.  Just thinking idly maybe I could tie a trip in to that.  there's always GDMBR but I'm also wondering about the Trans Canada trail which I think ran through Canmore...  are there other options?

Obligatory Australian question: what will the bears & cougars be like that time of year?

Have a merry Christmas everyone!

Cheers

I'm sure a good looking Aussie will need to be aware of "Cougars" at any time of year. I hear they hunt in packs so should be easier to spot  icon_biggrin

...Sigh, Walked into that one.

At the risk of being boring.  Has anyone actually ridden this:

Was thinking maybe Banff to Vancouver.  Not sure how long it would take but I reckon I'd have 2 weeks up my sleeve...

There are some problems with the TransCanada Trail between Canmore and Vancouver.

1.  There isn't really a seperate one until Sparwood, rather you are best on the GDRMB route.
2.  From Sparwood west to Cranbrook, there are much better options as parts of the TCT route are (hmmm - how to say this nicely) stupid.
3.  Don't know firsthand, but know that there are some big issues now on the rail trail portions from Castlegar to Hope.  Lots of off road motorized vehicles have made for very poor riding conditions, from what I've heard.   A real shame.

If you want more details of some better options, PM me.
