A buddy and I are looking to do a 3-4 day 150-200 mile bikepacking trip the first weekend in may. We were considering the Coconino loop down in Flagstaff/Sedona. Its a bit longer than we would like at 250 miles. Wondering if there are any alternate routes on Dirt that could take you back north towards flagstaff without heading as far west as Mingus. If it exists, is it quality riding?
If not does anybody have any other route suggestions? We were considering the dixie 200 course but don't think it will be clear of snow that early? Does anyone know if the Dixie Lite course encounters the same issues with snow?

You could ride the route from flag through sedona and then after you cross the highway on lime kiln you could ride north over casner mtn and back to flag. This is all dirt. You would be hiking up casner Mtn switchbacks. I did this in the opposite direction last fall
I could also think of many ways to skip some singletrack on the regular route to make the full loop easier. Youd miss some good trail but it would still be a sweet loop.

Using the regular route you could: when leaving Sedona skip the state Park and short hike a bike by using highway, take the Mingus bypass, blow by Bill Williams, and it's easy to bypass Sycamore Canyon which we had to do. That combo of things would eliminate a few tough stretches and put mileage closer to 225.
