I've done 1 biking trek which was this past summer when I rode the ACA divide route from Cuba, New Mexico, to Banff, Canada. After finishing the trip I took a train ride to Portland and a took a slow meandering ride down the coast of Oregon to San Francisco. I'm currently 27 (will be 28 come actual trip time), finishing my last semester of law school in San Diego, and want to squeeze in a fun trip after taking the bar exam in July and prior to starting work at the end of August. I figure I need to charge my soul with as much positive energy as I can prior to selling it to our flawed legal system.
I have some prior endurance racing experience having completed a double ironman and the hoodoo 500. So if you're the type of person that wants to hammer out miles and stick to a daily plan I'd be up for that, but I'd also be totally happy with taking our time and stopping to smell the roses and possibly taking deviations to go explore and hike any area we see fit. The bottom line is this, I did the divide route solo, and my trip down the Pacific Coast solo, and now that I look back on my trip last summer I realize that my happiest memories were when I was with good company. I'd like to share this route with someone as well, so let me know if you are interested. Personally I'm a straight male oriented individual, but whether you are gay, straight, religious, hippie, etc, you name it, I'm ok with it, as long as you're not inclined to preach politics to me, we'll get a long, philosophical life debates are welcomed. Like the title says my time frame for the trip would ideally get to Denver around August 1 to start the ride, logistics can be worked out once we start a discussion.
After reading a few journals about the Oregon 3 rivers route I'd be up for that as well, totally different than the CT, but seems like an epic time. Would be up for an attempt to do both routes assuming that time and money line up....
Sometime between March 25-29 (posted in this forum as well) I'm going to do a loop of the Stage Coach 400 route. Living in San Diego I'm just going to leave my house and start biking clockwise following the course. If you want to join for that you are more than welcome as well, if you don't live in SD I can pick you up from the airport or Amtrak and you can crash at my apt before and after the trip.
Have a great holiday and a happy new year, Ilya S.
p.s. the name is Russian, I was born there but moved to the states when I was 3 so I'm as American as it gets.
