Hey guys, planning to take my first shot at the Divide this summer but of course there is a late problem that I need to solve. I am flying into Edmonton to stay with a friend about a week before the start of the Tour Divide and he was originally going to drive me to Banff a day or two before the Grand Depart. Unfortunately he has been scheduled on a work trip now and will not be able to drive me anymore.

I was wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions on the best/cheapest way to get from Edmonton to Banff? Budget is tight enough as it is for this adventure!

Also if anyone was planning on leaving from the Edmonton area for the start in Banff and would be willing to let me tag along I could chip in for gas, etc. (27 year old married male)

Thank you!

Looks to be a cheap and easy $40 ride on Greyhound from Edmonton to Banff. Usually just a few extra bucks for bike to go with in a bike box.

Take the bus from Edmonton to Calgary, 3 hours. Greyhound is downtown Edmonton, rather ghetto too Smiley

Brewsters I believe runs a bus from Calgary to Banff, guessing from the airport. Or just ride it out from Calgary to Banff (130 km or so), a great if you take Highway 1A. Or hitchhike, lots of tourists with RV's coming out of Calgary.

Another option is go from Edmonton Airport to Jasper on the Sundog Bus. They take bikes no problem, I've taken dozens of times (I live along the route). Once your in Jasper, just hitchhike or ride down the parkway to Banff Smiley It's worth it trust me.
