So I have decent hiking and camping knowledge. But very minimal mountain biking or much navigation skills. I'm at a point where I have a year and a half to go on some adventures. I plan to hike the ap tail. I plan to ride the cdt (obviously that will be last when I have much experience). And I want to ride the Arizona trail. As well as the Colorado trail, and a ltlesst a week long rafting trip.  I was looking up the Arizona trail and saw there's a "race" that begins April 3. I was wondering if you think a "beginner" could do this ?
I plan to ride my bike (I do have a nice rock hopper) at some trails around my house. Also I have read that people do commitments of 2-3 days of biking/camping to get started and obviously as people have their own pace go seperste ways. As well as to have that whole experience.
If someone is interested and willing to help me maybe a little to get started.
And any gear I may not know that I will need, tips you guys have that you wish you would of known would be so appreciative and helpful.
And also I'm a 23 year old male. And I'm decent shape. And plan to train to get ready.
I'd really like to do the AZT because I'm more interested in bikepacking as I never have.

Thanks in advance,
Maybe I'll see one of you on the AZT !!!!!

the idea is better then the reality, funds experience, time period, get out and enjoy as much as you can and learn as much as you can, probably at least $15,000-$20,000 adventure if completed with little experience, can probably had for less but, big ambitions unless this is a life time goal then yes it can be done. 1 1/2 years to get as much as you can, but not everything there are seasons witch is why trips take less time during a good weather season. when mother nature strikes things just take longer and have to be able to make good decisions to be able to continue enjoying the outdoors.the way people get thru long distance trips faster then others is all in the planing, not uncommon for a 5 month trip to take 5 months of planing but that same five month trip with very little planing could take 7 months if you get what i mean. get out and enjoy as much as you can and learn as much as you can.

good luck with all your adventures.
