I'm starting to plan my trip to Iceland in late May and my first big question is: Which bike should I use? I plan to bike secondary roads around the fjords, not the Ring Road. My bike options (without buying a new one) are a Surly Cross Check with racks and panniers (and a triple), or a full-suspension MTB (with lockouts) and a BOB trailer. Any recommendations? Thank you!

I don't know the road conditions but you could check out Cycling dutch girl. Just Google it. She is in Iceland now. Great journal.

We were there about three years ago and spent a lot of time in West Fjords, most of the roads were in good shape even if gravel. I'd vote for the crosscheck

Take the Cross Check! I think you can squeeze on some 45mm rubber?
