Michaux is a good destination and a good place ride... solid, eastern style single track (roots and rocks) with forest road alternatives.

Michaux is great. They have a mtn bike race there. The Piney Mtn. Rd. runs along the ridge. Watch out for hunting season.

I think the only game in is spring gobbler at the moment. I've ridden out there many moons ago.

I think I may have seen a post of yours about this over on MTBR...anyway, I'd still be potentially interested if a trip like this happens, as it seems like I can take my bike on Greyhound from Philly to Harrisburg and back.

Yes I'm over there also. Pick some weekends and see what we can figure out.

Are any specs of the proposed ride fleshed out yet? - wondering about total distance, mileage per day, etc.
I am thinking about doing some endurance races in 2016 and would like to get my bike rig dialed in, not to mention the fact I need to somehow get a couple years of trying in over the next few months.

If there are any riders out there in central pa  who want to do some endurance training, let me know - I've been thinking about doing a ride that ties together the abandoned railway that runs along the western valley side of blue mtn, swatty st park and the creek trails/old rds, Indian town gap, goldmine Rd climb, etc.

I will plan it out and post the route details.

I'm not envisioning a killer pace, as for now im just trying to get my legs back and see if I still remember how to keep a bike uprite on a trail (I am a 50ish former endurance/adv. racer, a bit out of shape)

i expressed interest but was hoping someone would propose a route (and date) i could look at and decide if i could make the trip down.  i discovered the drive is a lot longer than i remember from last time i was in central PA.  something with a good amount of single track and at least a couple nights would make it worth it.

i don't mean to avoid the planning work but i have zero local knowledge although i have ridden in the area a couple times (never michaux specifically).  just thought it sounded interesting.  if anyone wants to do a route up in MI i got that one covered.

I've looked at some routes and trails online but haven't seen anything specific or solid that I would use. This would be basically my dirt bike pack ride ever... I've toured and what not and ride a good bit but nothing quite like this. I'm half thinking of just riding out there and following some trails and see when I end up. I don't have any specific bike packing bags just panniers and a back pack. I have gear from backpacking and figure most of that should work.
As I ponder this trip.... My biggest question at the moment is tent or hammock.
I subscribe to the "adventures suck when you're having them" mantra at times.  Plus, If it really sucks, I can always go set up a camp site at Pine Grove State Park and use it as a base camp of sorts for riding out there.
