Planning on a month or more in NZ following the Tour Aotearoa and some additional mountain bike trails. If you have similar plans, give me a shout. Cheers, Kurt

hi, I am visiting from the US to NZ, from the US, march 13-april 4. was thinking of riding out of wellington, also along Tour Aotearoa for a bit headed north, esp if riding alone. I'm having a bit of logistics trouble though, any ideas for a place that might help me get the bike case from the airport, store it, then the same afterwards? airport storage is too costly, and i'm with a family member but neither them nor their friend they are visiting seem to be willing to help or store the box, and i doubt it will fit in their car it seems. i have asked a few bike shops but no luck.

Hi Kurto, Unfortunately I don't have a direct answer as i don't know the Wellington area but hopefully useful. If you are on facebook try posting in https://www.facebook.com/groups/bikepackingnewzealand/ There will be quite a few Wellington locals there who might be able to tell you more.

yes, thanks for the reply....i got the box storage figured out, & using the Super Shuttle from the airport to transport it in case anyone else ever needs transportation. they seemed easy to arrange, easy to get an estimate ($28 for me and the bike). I did use the FB page you noted as well!

I'm excited to hear how the Old Ghost Road goes. I'm headed there in December. I've heard that in December the weather can be really pleasant, but up at the higher altitudes on the Old Ghost Road you can still get some pretty violent weather. Do you have any insight into how warm I should be packing for?
