Oaxaca - late April

Hey all.

In the early stages of putting together 10-14 days of bikepacking around Oaxaca, Mexico in late April. Looking for route ideas and /or a partner(s). I've checked out Scott's route on Spokes and Words and the route on bikepacking.com. I'd ideally put together a loop in and out of Oaxaca City. And of course there would be special attention paid to mezcalerias.

I'll be riding a surly wednesday and am not too concerned with speed and distance - other than putting together an awesome route, sampling mezcal, and eating good food. That said, I'm excited to push myself, bikepacking in Mexico. I have a strong backpacking/mountaineering/international-travel background (as a instructor and guide), and some bike touring.  This would be a first for bikepacking on a fatbike.

So, share away - whatcha got?!? And who wants to join in on the fun???

I'm heading to Costa Rica on Feb 29th with the intention on riding north to the Mex/U.S. border and should be passing through Oaxaca. Currently not planning on making it to Oaxaca that soon but if plans change I'll try to let you know.

Great choice with the Wednesday, I'll be on a Pugsley.

Maps are hard to find in Oaxaca.  Consider getting a http://www.guiaroji.com.mx/#slide4 Guia Rojas map before you go.

Sadly no -- felt that the weather was going to be too hot! Maybe next winter?
