Howdy,
I'm a fit, experienced rider/bikepacker. All of my erstwhile partners have succumbed to the allure of the couch, and I'd be stoked to find some like-minded folks to get out with. I live north of Santa Barbara, I spend a lot of time in the Los Padres and Big Sur, and I'm always up for an adventure. I have a couple of specific projects for this spring: Pasadena Metro->Mt. Wilson->Strawberry Creek->Gabrieleno Trail->JPL->Pasadena Metro in a day; and, in the Santa Barbara area, Lower Oso/Paradise Rd to Ojai and Ventura via Camuesa and Jameson Lake Roads, also in a day. Beyond that, there's a million other possibilities, and I'd love to hear your ideas- let's hatch some plans over a beer!

Hi there Loren, Matt here from Monterey. I'm reaching out to see if you're still interested in doing some bickpacking. I'm in the process of getting things together (training and gear) and would be interested in getting out there and exploring some of the areas that you listed. I'm looking to eventually do some of the more ambitious rides eventually later down the line (e.g. So Cal Desert Rambler, Baja Divide). That's the goal at least at this stage. Sounds like you know your way around a bike shop! That's awesome. I'm pretty much a novice mechanic and learn by watching and doing.
Also, I visit my mom down in San Luis Obispo quite often so would be stoked to connect and talk about these possible adventures over a good beer sometime soon!
Take care and hope to talk soon.
Cheers, Matt

Hey Matt!
Stoked to hear from you- thanks for your response. And my apologies: I tried to reply a couple of days ago, but my message apparently got lost in the aether. In any event, I'd love to get together for some rides- the Baja Divide and the Rambler are on my list, as well. I usually ride in SLO a couple of times a month, and grabbing a beer and planning some epics sounds great! As an aside, I don't know how much riding you've done in Big Sur/Coast Ridge Rd/Nacimiento-Ferguson Rd/The Indians, but there's a ton of cool stuff back there, and with all the water this spring this would be a fantastic time to get some exploring done (and it's equidistant-ish between Monterey and Lompoc).
Feel free to email/call/text me directly: loren[at]lompocbikeworks[.]com or 805[.]865[.]6708.
Be well- I look forward to meeting up soon!
Best,
Loren
