Is there anyone here interested in tackling the CO Trail this summer? I'm looking for one or two others to share the experience. Young, old, dude, lady - it doesn't matter to me. Last adventure I paired up with two Dutch fellows aged 30-something and 60 and it worked out great!
JULY 1 UPDATE: It looks like July 13 - Aug 4 is my finalized window. The plan is to start the first or second week in July from Denver. My work schedule is flexible, so I can shift the start date to accommodate others' schedules. There's no rush to get back to work, so the conditions and our bodies can set the pace. Looking at the first few days, though, it seems like 35-50 miles/day is a decent goal.
I'd prefer riding with people that are doing the entire trail just to avoid the logistical challenge of meeting up at a certain date/time.
Let's see...what else? I slow-toured the Great Divide in 2010 and have since ditched racks and panniers for frame bags. This'll be my first long distance bikepacking adventure that's primarily singletrack, although I've done numerous refreshing overnighters in the local mountains.
Anyone interested?

2 of us are going around Aug 5th, just fyi if you're interested in postponing your trek a couple weeks. Same plan, trying to finish the thing in around 2 weeks give or take.

I'll keep you two in mind. I'd prefer to get out there earlier than August so I'll still keep this open to other early-July riders. If it becomes a choice between going solo or waiting a month, I'd choose to wait.

I might be interested in an Aug trip also going N-S. All depends on training and family approval.

Hey Man,
Im planning to ride the CT sometime in mid to late July. Planning on a couple weeks as well. Nothing to hard core but I do like to ride and can push it when I want to (Im no stranger to an occasional 100+ mile day on the GDR). Anyways my dates are flexible and I can start anytime after July 15. What else, Im 35 male just got back from a 4 month tour through Central America and itching to hit the trails. I live in Denver.

Hi David, I just tripped across your post. I'm also trying to thru-ride the CT this summer from Denver to Durango. A buddy recently bailed on our plans, so I'm currently planning to ride it solo. I was aiming to leave a little earlier than you have originally posted- I'm currently aiming to leave on June 23. Im keeping my eye on snow levels thinking that this early start date may work. I'm giving myself 2 weeks maximum for the trip.
I'm a 27 year old grad student also living in Boulder. I've done two other multi-day trips. A 4 day trip on the GDR in 2011 from Steamboat to Salida. I also did the Maah Daah Hey trail last summer. I'll be riding a full suspension mtb with bags. Let me know if you're interested.
Cheers, Brett

Hey all, Sorry I've been silent lately. Things have come up and it looks like very late July or early-mid August will work out better for me. Until I figure everything out, I don't want to commit to any group. For all you CO riders, REI/CTF is hosting a presentation about biking the CT @ REI Boulder: http://www.rei.com/event/50705/session/70735/06302013Wednesday, June 12, 2013 6:30–8:00 pm I'll be there.

I'm doing 8 days on the CT starting on Sunday July 28th.
I'm flying in late (10:30) on the 27th. I'm planning 8 days to go *as far as I can get* - with the hope of making it to Buena Vista - with luck maybe as far as Monarch.
I would be happy to share my time on the trial with whom-ever. My pace will be slow - hopefully steady.
I'm keeping an eye on the fires (I see that Section 1 and 2 is currently shut down for the fire crews [http://www.denverpost.com/breakingnews/ci_23494247/lime-gulch-fire-prompts-evacuations-jerfferson-county]).
I foresee at least one beer stop in Breckenridge - let's call it 2 with a stop at Copper Mountain.

Hey all - I finally resolved when I can take off work: July 13 - August 4. I wanted to plan around when other groups are starting and tag along, but it couldn't work out that way. So, is anyone free to start July 13 (a Saturday)? I can delay a few days, but being back in Boulder on August 4 the latest is fixed.

Im probably getting a one way car rental (or mooching a ride from someone) from denver to durango and starting my ride Wednesday July 17th, or Thursday July 18th.
