I am planning to ride "Trans Georgia" this Sept. if it is still on. I live in Colorado and havn't decided if I will drive or fly. If I fly, I am looking for a ride to the start (or to the Mulberry Gap) from the Atlanta airport. Anyone driving up that way from Atlanta area I would be happy to pay for the gas.

I'm also looking at logistics of travel to a starting point of TNGA...closest method I can find to Georgia/Alabama border is Greyhound to Dalton Georgia then begin heading east from there...cuts off the first bit of forest travel though. BTW,a great resource when traveling with your bike is warmshowers.org.....it's basically couchsurfing but for touring bicyclists and can be golden in moments such as when flying into or out of a town and need a simple easy contact for yard camping,bikebox storage,etc. I've used warmshowers while touring through Nova Scotia and bikepacking Switzerland..Not a whole lot of members along TNGA but Asheville area has a lot of hosts.I didn't look yet but Atlanta likely has a bunch of members as well.

I live in Georgia and I might be able to give you a ride to the start in Sept. I wouldn't ride west-east since you use up most of the singletrack in the first half of the route. Plus it is a lot rougher; east-west gives you a lot better descents. I know most of the route well so let me know if you have any questions.

If you are participating in the Official Start TNGA then everything can be arranged through Mulberry Gap... ride to the start (at crack o' dawn) as well as ride from finish (or wherever you bail) They may be able to arrange ride from ATL if dgjessee can't make it. Great place, great people.
If you are planning on doing an ITT in September - keep in mind Archery Season starts September 10, Black Powder Oct 15, and Firearms Oct 22.
If you'd rather do an ITT this spring - let me know - I am considering riding it some time in March myself.

Yeah, Ginnie and her Mulberry Gap staff/family are amazing! Definitely a good back up. Hiker Hostel in Dahlonega is another (actually the folks who own it are also the owners of the CompetitiveCyclist.com pro team). I've got several friends from Atlanta planning to race it this year too, so lots of options to get to the start.

I might be headed to the start from Alpharetta, GA which is about 30 minutes north of the airport. You could take Marta to the end of the Chamblee line and I could pick one person up and they can ride with me to the start. I'm probably gonna spend the night at the starting point. If i can't find someone to drive me in my van, I guess I'll try to arrange via Mulberry Gap. They're planning on staying in a hotel in Clayton the night before the start and then driving the last 30mins or so in the morning to the start...I'll keep an eye on it, I need to bribe some friends with more beer by the fire...

I live in Alabama and am doing the TNGA (it's on Aug 25).
I think I'm bringing one person with me but I have room for 4 bikes and 4 people - so that saying, I have room for two more people. If you can sport the gas, I could swing by Atl Airport and grab you if needed.
Can't say enough good about Diane and the Mulberry Gap Staff! Plus their downhills are unbelievable.

Thanks sthig and Litt! I will PM you when I get my airline ticket to see about logistics of a ride. Are you both heading back to Mulberry Gap after the ride? I'm a slow rider so Im trying to figure logistics of getting back to Atlanta (probably from Mulberry Gap) the day after I finish the ride.
