Had a great time from Idyllwild to SD, now I'm going to head counterclockwise from SD to Idyllwild.  I'm going to bypass a slight portion of Nobel Canyon in exchange for other areas in the mtb zone because I do not want to upset bikers bombing the downhill sections.  I'd like to avoid having 200 pounds of force smash into me around a blind corner  icon_scratch I'm planning to do the section in about 3 days, depending on Temps, night riding may be in order for the Anza Section, or if you're like me and like the heat, just carrying a SHI# load of water.  The more the merrier, dates are tentative and slightly flexible.  I'm not familiar with the east county SD area north of Chula Vista so I'd be up for route detour suggestions if you want to join and know of a good route to take towards Alpine that's not on the route.

Hey so my plan to ride back from idyllwild got derailled by rain last weekend and im looking for a good ride, Ive ridden the stagecoach in race mode and woudl love to tour it. I would be down for leaving sometime that week ( got a bit of work to take care of mon-tuesday) but after that i think im free. i live in northpark so it would be nice to just ride out my front door for a few days.

thanks for the reply!  So here was my plan, I think you'd be interested:  I was going to get a ride from northpark (I live at Florida and Lincoln) to Aguanga (right around the 79 and 371 intersections), 10-15 miles East of Temecula.  My plan was to bike up the back side of Palomar mountain using the fire roads, then descend on the east side towards Anza, then resume following the SC route from Anza the rest of the way back to SD...Sound like a good plan?  The only possible issue is that the ride up North is tentative, 90% sure we will be able to get a ride, but possible cancelations last minute may happen, so I'll only know for sure on Monday if we have a ride...

worst case scenario I guess we could do the route reverse and start in North Park and then hitch a ride or take public transportation back to SD, I've never taken public transportation that far so I'm not sure how convenient that would be or if it's even an option.  We could also set up a car shuttle if the person who was going to give me a ride bails, maybe drop off a car in Temecula or at the ranger station/fire department at the top of Palomar...

forgot to mention, leaving Wed. the 15...

ha we live like 3 blocks from eachother, I'm right by arnold and university, and really I'm down for anything you want to plan, just looking to get 2-3 nights in out on the trail to test the new setup.
