I just posted 'rev2' of the GPS data. Also rev2 of the cue sheets. The singletrack mentioned in previous posts has been added. I also made a few changes to the cues. Looks like good I am looking forward to the new stuff I did hike a little ways up to where it dead ended 2 years ago and as I recall the views of Picket Post are great. Some local chatter about the course over on TucsonMTB Abe Gold went out and personally dug out thistle plants in the Stairs of Pain area. http://www.tucsonmtb.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1527And azsteel on Oracle ridge. http://www.tucsonmtb.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1522Rob and I rode from Patagonia to Hwy 83 and found that to be in good shape thanks to Lee Blackwell and the Elephant Head racers. I know that Scott personally went down for one of Zay's work events cleaning up one of the longest hike a bikes in the Canelo's. Funny thing is some of the newer stuff that was all clear two years ago is starting to feel a little thorny in places. Well we wouldn't want any body to get to the end with out some real trophy scars now would we. |

Sweet. I blew up a wheel today but MC is saving my butt and I'll be rolling again in no time. Looking forward to the AZT. Kurt, Stefan and I had a nice ride in Moab, me a bit more pave after limping out of Soverign.

Some local chatter about the course over on TucsonMTB
Funny thing is some of the newer stuff that was all clear two years ago is starting to feel a little thorny in places. Well we wouldn't want any body to get to the end with out some real trophy scars now would we.
Thanks for the updates, Tim. The course keeps getting better every year. Lee Blackwell and a good crew spent the weekend working on the first ~2-3 miles from Parker Lake. Reportedly there is now a singletrack bypass around the very first hike-a-bike in the race (that steep ass rocky road)! I'm so disappointed. If anyone makes it to the end without scars we'll know they must have cheated and taken the highway.  |

Do we have a plan yet to get people from the finish to your casa Scott? Or Chad's but he might be on the trail?
We're bringing Pete's van down (kurt, pete, me) on Thursday from Moab. I can maybe wrangle extended family help too but I probably need to let them know soon what the plan is. Ideally we'd drop the van at the finish or in Superior but we can do whatever is necessary.
So fun to start making final plans! Soon enough we'll even get the weather forecast!

I can drive up Thursday (late PM, right?) if needed. However, there are likely other people that need a ride from the finish to Tucson, so you might coordinate with them to leave one vehicle at the finish, and drive another into Tucson.
I'll check with the Mrs about how much room we have here and I'll let you know soon. I think Jefe is staying here.
So far I have one driver to the start that can take 4 people + 4 bikes.

I will be on the trail from this Saturday 4th to Friday 10th (at the latest). If I finish my ride early for any reason, you can count on me to help out getting people here in Tucson or down to Parker Lake.

oh the memories. I have not looked back at those in awhile, it is good to remind myself how far I have come in the world of bikepacking. I still have so much more to learn; I really appreciate Scott taking the time to setup this website and the AZT race. |

I'm borrowing a car from my brother. We'll have room for one more on the way to the start Friday morning. We'll be driving from Tuscon, so maybe we can all meet up and caravan out. I'd hate to get lost before the race even starts!
My wife will be hanging out in Phoenix for the weekend, and I will just call her from Superior, assuming I finish. We'll probably head straight back to Tucson then, and we could certainly give someone a ride back if they are in the vicinity at the same time.

Yep, let me know when you have the GPS sorted out (know which one it is) and what computer you have. If PC you can get the free version of TopoFusion and use it to upload the track. I can help, but please do it out before Thursday. I may or may not have time (or even be around) to help the day before the race. |

Scott, are you planning to set up a SPOT tracking page? I just got Mike Dion's SPOT, and I assume you need the code for it if you're doing that? I've never used these before, so this is new territory for me...
