I've heard from 20 people doing the 300 so far. Almost all will have SPOTS, I think.
5 still in for the full AZT.

Hey everyone. Race is coming up soon! I have a few items. * First, there is a new revision for the 300 cue sheets available. It continues on with the full AZT cues just in case you feel frisky and want to get some extra miles! The only change to the 300-only cues is a very minor one. I had a left when it should have been a right on a turn in the neighborhoods before Redington Road in Tucson. * The revision 1 data for the 300 is final. This is the same file that has been available for quite some time. Oracle Ridge is still in. No new singletrack on Lemmon. * If you want to borrow a SPOT unit, let me know ASAP. * If you are borrowing a SPOT, remember you will need 2AA lithium batteries. The SPOT will not have batteries in it. * I will have the SPOTs at the start line to distribute. * You are responsible for returning the SPOT to me. If you are in Tucson after the race, let me know and you can drop it off. Otherwise, I will email everyone my mailing address. We do need them back ASAP after the race, since we have another race we are tracking in early May. * Here is the tracker link: http://trackleaders.com/aztrBoth AZT 300 and AZTR racers will show there. If you have an avatar image, send it to me (URL to an 80x80 image preferred if you can handle that). Questions?

Wow 20 people that would be a huge number compared to all previous runnings.

Just wanted to wish all AZT racers good luck out there! I'll be following the SPOTs online and any race commentary threads here on the board. Looking forward to hearing how it goes for everyone. Stay safe and have a wonderful ride!!!

Yeah, I am glad the 300 was not this past weekend. It was plain old stinkin' hot. (Well Sunday was ok due to the clouds, but still very warm for bikepacking).
It looks like a reprieve is coming our way. Even today was perfect -- cloudy and upper 70's here in town. 72 forecast for Friday -- perfect. We'll see how that holds out, though.

Dang, I'm out for the 300, too. Some tendonitis in my foot returned after a long running race this past weekend, so I'm going to play it smart for a change (which rarely happens, unfortunately) and just let it be. Have fun, everyone!

Bummer, but understood Kurt. I've always said runining is bad for your health... This might change your mind, though: Strong low digging unseasonably far south near the West Coast. This system will receive reinforcing energy as it slowly wobbles through the Desert Southwest the second half of the week. Strong gusty winds ahead of this system Wednesday...then starting to shape up as two primary periods of precipitation. For Southeast Arizona the best timing is shaping up for both Wednesday night and Thursday night. Mountains could see several inches of snow storm total...especially with the coolest air Thursday night. Fresh snow on Lemmon again?!?

My waterproof booties have a broken zipper, so I'm happy to miss that snow this time around Trail running is pretty fun, but it sure is hard on the body. Fortunately, pedaling doesn't seem to aggravate this injury, so I think I can ride as long as I avoid hike-a-bike.

Sounds like we are in the same boat then. Come on down and let's clean the Canelos together, eh? If we accomplish that feat we should be able to clean Oracle Ridge too, snow or not...

Thanks Jonesy. That's a nice offer.
My friend Jobie (*the one and only* Jobie in Tucson) has offered to drive people to the start as well. He's got room for 4 people and bikes. Meeting at my house (middle of Tucson) or we could also swing by places south of there (by the airport for example).
This is for Friday morning. Aiming to get to the start line by 8 or shortly thereafter.
