Steamboat Springs has a new bike shop directly on route, called "Wheels" They are new in that location, but have been around for more than a decade.
We'll get that updated on the maps. If anyone else has any service changes for the route, let me know before Friday morning and we'll get it on the maps. They are going to the printer Friday or Monday. cgreene <at> adventurecycling (dot) org

I know this may seem like a silly question, but will there be enough maps for the racers who are registered to race in june???

I love Eddie Clark's photo of Dave B in the Great Divide Basin. Excellent choice for that cover photo!

Thanks you guys. No Prob. Ya, that picture is amazing. Really great shot. Everyday I look at the Elkford Webcam, and the snow seems to be getting deeper!

Sections 1-6 are being reprinted right now. The Canadian Section was reprinted last year and will be again next year.

I'm researching snow shoes.
Hmm time to continue that research. Or buy a Pugsley/Mukluk and swap from fatties to 9ers when I get far enough South

How unusual is that? Is there more snow still on the ground this time of the year than in years past?

Hi Casey, I apologize for not paying attention - which sections have actual route changes on them? I don't mind updating addenda on the maps I bought last year for the services, etc, but a route change deserves a new map purchase, I think. Thanks! Bob

Here's the snow-depth data on April 3rd from Grave Creek Snotel Station at 4300ft on Section 1: 2004 - 37 inches 2005 - 25 2006 - 46 2007 - 25 2008 - 57 2009 - 54 2010 - 28 2011 - 62 I guess statistically yes, but not by that much. It does seem to be inline with other Snotel site, in-that the snow depth is pretty much double from this time last year west of the Continental Divide in Montana. http://www.wcc.nrcs.usda.gov/snow/...which sections have actual route changes on them? I don't mind updating addenda on the maps I bought last year for the services, etc, but a route change deserves a new map purchase, I think.
If all you need is the major route change then just pick up Section 5 Section 6. The rest is fairly similar. There are a few more smallish changes, but between the official TD gps track, ACA free waypoint data, the new 2011 $6ish cue sheets, and your 2009 maps, you'll be more than fine. I personally wouldn't see any reason to get a full set of new maps.

Hi Casey. The addenda will have all the changes, right? I don't plan to purchase the cue sheets as I already have mine from last year and I am not using GPS. Thanks! Bob

You could just get a 907 or fatback snowbike and switch rim sets further south.

The addenda only contains service changes and emergency route changes. It dosen't house any "standard" route changes. If you are not using GPS, I recommend getting the 2011 cues. Also, as has been stated before on this thread, this is the first year which the TD route will have a small portion that does not follow the GDMBR.
