ok thanks a ton so just to be sure 1A is north of 1B is north of 2A is north of 2B if looking at a map correct? should there be concern about the two GDCanada 2010's? the two are for 2011 correct? also, there is a total of 14 files? thanks for help just wanna double and triple check my work and know i have everything down.

hey guys i am doing my cue sheets and just a dumb question if you don't mind helping me figure out. when i purchased the narratives and they are saved i get the following: "GDCanada A 2010" "GDCanada B 2010" "GDMBR 1A 2011" "GDMB 1B 2011" you can guess the remaining 10 files and how they are shown (2A, 2B, 3A, 3B, and so on). I am retyping them in an easy way for ME, but should i be using both GDCanada A and B? also, the GDMBR files from the boarder, what is the A and B? this is probably a dumb question but i am just doing everything i can to make navigating as straight forward as possible. i would appreciate any help. thanks!

The year obviously tells you what version of the map that cue file is from (ie, `09, 10, `11).

Be sure to keep each and every page of cues you carry very well labeled by Section, Map side, and even page number within that section, so that when you are shuffling paper in the field and you accidentally intermingle them, you can easily unmingle. Also helps to throw away (with confidence) the pages you no longer need.

Printing them off on Write-in-the-Rain paper is good insurance.  Also, do not depend on the "next town" having any public internet access.  Compared to the UK such services are few and far apart on the Divide route.

I'm most of the way through reading the Bear Attacks book mentioned earlier in the thread. I've decided I'm carrying pepper spray, riding a bike that looks suspiciously like a horse, and carrying an inflatable animal to either use for distracting the bears or keeping me company on a long cold night.

Gold Dust trail is still buried under snow, so we haven't been able to 'cue it up' officially (with a cyclometer). I am working on a (back-up) loose descriptor with Breck locals (TD is an 'adventure race' after all, right?). They say it's pretty hard to get lost on Gold Dust. It is an established 'old flume' trail, signed at the two mid-descent fireroad crossings...and it pops out at the bottom of the mountain in downtown Como. When is doubt, go downhill! The key is not to miss the right turn onto the trail off Boreas Pass (just over the top of the pass by 100 meters or so). More in the 2011 Route email.

Thanks Vance, yep, that's what I have too, just no mile markers For those lower Xings where it's easier to miss the 'faint' resumption of singletrack. The full beta for Gold Dust as integrated into the B100 can be viewed here: www.warriorscycling.com/courseMaps/B100-loop3-2010.pdf

I think it's going to be a nice addition to TD. For 2011 we have effectively increased the GDMBR singletrack quotient by 1,000%. Makes me really sad to think I won't be out there. My therapist is helping me cope pretty well. She's been on the job for 4 weeks now and already weighs nearly 10lbs!

this is great news for those who like to see all time records about to be surpassed!!!

that said, trails in the elk river valley bottom have opened up a ton in the last couple weeks and several of the low elevation (~1000-1200 m) and south facing trails that make fernie one of the best mtb singletrack locations in the world (blatant plug for my town!) are in great shape.  you could still ski top to bottom at the ski hill though (top elev=1900 m, bottom elev=1100 m).  so really a mixed bag out there.  would imagine that there is significant snow along flathead route through the passes, but haven't seen firsthand yet.

streams are rising and are approaching average spring runoff peak levels, but will most likely rise significantly higher based on above.  if we get warm rain (forecast) on large snowpack up high, could see repeat of 1995 when major flooding and loss of numerous bridges occurred throughout region.  stay tuned.

Definitely geared, I need all the help I can get at the moment. I've taken tapering to a whole new level after being ill since Thursday and probably losing weight rather than adding a few pounds, let alone the loss in fitness. :/

Curious what folks are feeling about the Canadian Flathead and the snow. As far as I can tell it ain't gonna be gone by the 10th, seems we are given the option to take the Fernie route, not mandatory, but legal. I am a bit confused, how are we to "race" each other on different courses? Will we agree to a consensus or every woman and man for themselves? Maybe it will melt off and we will travel the same route, but if the snows still there, any ideas?
The weather is still crappy here and the high country is not getting dryer by much if anything. I can see the lack of consensus make sticking to the whole route seem optional to some?  I can see this large of a group having some amount of confusion with different routes? thoughts?   Jefe
