Can anyone recommend a place to stay up there for the night of the 25th? Maybe a place that's bike-in-the-room friendly?
Also is there a place to leave a car for the duration of the race?
Last year Brendan and Mary had a place arranged for us all to park during the race; I'm guessing the same will happen this year and they'll let us know where that is at the pre-race meeting.

OK, finished my ITT on Friday. Here is my ride report. Plenty of tips and learnings. http://teamkaker.com/stagecoach-400-ride-recap/Thanks for creating this route Brendan. It was tougher than I anticipated. Forest

Did anyone else have trouble with the GPX file? It looks fine on my computer but after I loaded it onto my etrex it only has 254 miles and is missing the section between PQ and somewhere near lake henshaw.. Looks like Dan had that problem and figured it out?

If it has more than 10,000 track points, you'll have to split it. Most GPS units will cut off a GPX track at 10k points. I haven't used Topofusion before, but on Garmin's Basecamp program, there's a "split track" feature at the bottom. It's really easy.

Forest, I didn't see any beer here. Did you stash it somewhere as a surprise?

Oh, indeed. I've strategically placed several cryogenically-cooled six packs of Negra Modelo along the route. In truth, I had a hard time staying hydrated, since I only had to pee like twice during the whole ride. Spirits and beer would have to wait until after the ride...

Nice ride Forest... and thanks for the write up. Saves me from driving out to Warner Springs to check on that resupply point.

Here is the sign on the door of the community center in Warner Springs. It's got all the info about hours.

Would Forest or anyone else who's ridden Coyote Canyon and/or Fish Creek Wash recently care to comment on tire choice?
Last year I just used what I always use: Small Block 8 on the rear and Ignitor on the front, both in 29 x 2.1 and both at 50 psi. These worked great: Coyote Canyon 90% rideable, an even higher fraction of the sandy parts of Fish Creek Wash, and they rolled really well on the non-sandy parts of the route.
But last year we'd had a pretty significant storm just two weeks before Stagecoach and I'm wondering if the sandy parts this year will quite a bit drier and looser.
Thanks, Keith

Hey Kieth, I rode the route in late March and found lots of sand in both canyons. I used a 2.3 Rampage front and rear at 40psi. Coyote was all rideable except for the rocks. Fish Creek was a long HAB. not totally sure it was the sand though. I was in a torrential head wind the whole way. The sand was bad in spots but if the wind was calmer I suspect them to be rideable also. Although there was still many sections of deep sand.
Overall, plan on a bunch of sand. The pole line once you leave 78 was also a bit sandy also.

Getting ready to sofa spectate the Stagecoach along with the finish of the AZT750. This will equal almost no work getting done...
Looking at the ITTr's it looks like the course will be run in reverse this year, is that the case?

Anyone know why they are taking the highway out of Borrego vs. the very sandy back road shown on Trackleaders and used last year?

I was asking myself the same. Big difference, that sandy road is pain in the arse.

I think it was because of the sand and the heat.
