Good luck with leaving the rain jacket at home.  Wink I'm going to bring along one of these.

Packs pretty small, but a bit of a hit in the weight department. No paddle, I'll just whittle one out of a branch. Will use bike pump, and/or my well conditioned lungs, to inflate.
Seriously, the extended looks a bit more promising for drying later this week, but then moisture inevitably creeps back into the state. At least the entire state of CO isn't rainbow colored for the next 10 days. Example on how to understand the applicable day and time: 000Z on Monday would be ~5PM on Sunday.

I would bring that just to ride the rapids on the Arkansas heading into BV:)

I hope Karlos hurries his butt over the Tenmile Range (he's right on top) because I'm pretty close-by right now and I would hate to be up there. The sky is ugly right now.

I bet he will have an interesting call-in from Copper when he gets down safely.

Cheat sheet - Total accumulated [and split] mileage and elevation gain between what I consider key places along the way. Mileages to the nearest tenth and elevations to nearerst 25'. Taken from profile of ~9K GPX file [one of Toby's versions] using TopoFusion. You mileage may vary [pun intended]. To be used for planning purposes. Don't stake your life on it. Didn't list those lovely elevation losses, like coming down Georgia/Tenmile/Stoney, because we all know those fleeting moment descents never last long enough. Attachment below is a JPEG of a Publisher file copy and pasted from the original Excel file. I you want the Excel file, send me a PM and an e-mail alias.

Following Dave's spot and thought something was up because of his slow progress. Sending good vibes on and hoping he's healthy and able to continue.

Just wondering if Teresa Garcia is ok. Trackleaders shows her spot in same place for last 4hrs just past Platte River, near begining of segment 2. I think she might have gone thru a storm at that spot earlier this morning and she is still in same spot.

Love this feature on track leaders, she is about to get soaked in the burn zone.
Maybe she put up here tent or bivy and is just waiting it out?
Hope she is ok.

Last Call on Rental SPOTs is tomorrow (8/6)!!

Trackleaders will ship all the rentals to me and I will hand them out at the race start on Sunday. If you are renting one, don't forget to bring your own batteries!

I could be wrong, but sounds to me like a heavy dose of under-estimation happening in his latest call-in.

3 or 4 Lithium AAAs...?

4 x AAAs for the gen3 units.

I've been using rechargeable batts on mine all summer... getting a ~weeks worth of riding on one charge.  Worth considering if you've got a good set of AAA rechargeables.

Good luck to everyone braving the CT this year!  It's a beautifully hard trail that punishes you as it elates you.

So far 4 starters and we have 2 scratches and what looks like 2 zero days going down today.

The CT has come out swinging this year...
