I am flying out to Denver a week from today to start my ITT. The issue is, my girlfriend is meeting me out there for a week after the race and I need to bring some extra gear I cannot carry with me on my ride.
Does anyone live in Denver who is willing to let me come over real quick early in the afternoon of July 31st and just let me drop off a suitcase and hold it for me for a week until I am done riding? I swear there is nothing sketchy inside it haha, just some outdoor gear and clothes. I will buy you a sixer for your troubles. Shoot me a PM if so!

Re: Leadville a Mess?Sorry, but I will "have to go to" City on a Hill Coffee Shop in Leadville. Nice folks, awesome Southwest burrito to eat there and/or take with you. But depending on what time of the day most of us will be rolling thru, late Sunday or Monday, how much of a mess can Leadville be, even swollen a bit with tourists? Well, I will offer than it will be a wee bit congested on the [Sat] day before the CTR starts. On my drive up to the start of the CTR, I plan on being there Saturday morning, 6:30 am, to cheer-on the hoards racing the Leadville MTB 100. It's my scenic and entertaining way to build up my hemoglobin level a bit. Edit: I might even stop at the laundromat [Safeway end of town] or hostel to take a shower. So I was going over route info again, unless you have to go to the grocery store or bike shop.... I took it last year and was pretty happy about bypassing the mess of Leadville.

Any final decision on this? Stay on Rock Creek Hills Road (Park County 39) the whole time from Tarryall Road to Lost Park Road or follow the GPX? Just wrapping up some loose ends on planning. Thanks I'll have to take a look as well, but the intent is definitely NOT to take a longer, harder route there, so the GPX track may be in error. Also, since Toby spends so much time and energy maintaining his .gpx track, I do intend to make it the official version for the CTR. Assuming he's OK with that, which I have a feeling he is...

Re: Tarryall diversion onto 129 or notTo fill the silence regarding this devil's in the details issue... Per the 5th edition of the CT Databook, the route description of the Tarryall/Wellington bike detour, at the point where the route turns right off of CR-77 onto CR-39, doesn't mention anything other than turning left off of 39 onto FS-133. The mileage queue quotes starting at the end of the CR-77 section [page 78 of the databook]: 63.0 Turn right onto Park County Rd-39 (gravel) 68.6 Turn left onto FS Rd-133 (dirt road) at sign for CT, Rock Creek Trailhead. Since there's no mention of temporarily diverting onto 129 and then back onto 39 along that 5.6 mile section of CR-39 - and Unless somebody tells me/us to do something different - I'm going to go with the databook description of just staying on 39 until 133. I'll just adjust my GPX track in TopoFusion. Any final decision on this?

Just wrapping up some loose ends on planning.
Thanks

Thanks for the gentle reminder, Toby.
Yes, staying on Park 39 seems to make more sense, so let's do that. Not sure how it ended up the other way in the first place.
I'll link in Toby's .gpx files to the CTR page when he's ready.

thanks Toby for all the work on the GPX. it's a great asset to have out on the trail to have your file that I trust to give me confidence that I am on the right path. It's also nice not to have to stop and think about trail intersections (some of them can be quite confusing to someone with brain fog)

I stopped at Apples camp yesterday to tell him thanks for everything he does. He is excited to see the bikers roll through soon. A local rancher brought up an enclosed horse trailer retrofitted with a stove and windows for people to take cover in (clean and dry). Apple has a big dome tent set up as well and is helping lots of people out right now with water and snacks. He is located just before the wilderness detour (same place as last year , I believe). That guy is awesome!

Him and the trailer are located about 1/4 mile before the " La Garita Wilderness Detour" as noted on the Colorado Trail Race page (climbingdreams.net).

Cool! Trying to plot out things to see as I traverse the route where I can for coverage. We'll see.

That is a very remot area with no phone or data service. Nearest town to get communication is Gunnison (about 50 minute drive).
