Scott, You post reminded me to make a donation I've been forgetting to do... thru PayPal on your Trackleaders web site. Thanks to all you do for the bikepacking community. -B ...snip... Good luck to everyone braving the CT this year! It's a beautifully hard trail that punishes you as it elates you.

Exactly! This is what I can't explain to my wife and others who ask "Again, why are you doing this?" You have to experience it or else you can't understand it.

Yep, he is out heading to Gunnison. Said he is still a little fuzzy in the head from his crash.

Hi everyone I will be at the start ready for the final leg of the Triple Crown. If you want a Geronimo! Pain Cream I will be bringing some with me to sell at the start. Let me know if you want one so I can have enough for the people who reserve them plus a few extra. PM me and let me know how many you want. $20 cash only for a 4oz tube. I will be there at 5am or so.

Usually the only start list I remember seeing is the list available on Trackleaders. But it's still only showing the ITT'ers.
Start time: 6am

Thanks. Read it many times but somehow managed to not read it this year. I like to confirm things and didn't see it posted yet or just missed it on this discussion.

Speaking of the bible, the official CTR web site says for the Collegiate Peaks detour we go:
"Left for 3 mi. on Clear Creek Road, right for 5.9 mi. on US-24, left on Rd-371 for 10 mi. on old railroad grade to B.V. Right on Main...etc."
Is it okay to continue on US 24 to main and then turn right, skipping the gravel road section? Guide book says it is acceptable, but don't know if it is CTR acceptable. Speed limit is 55, but shoulder is 6 feet wide.

I'm looking for Neil Beltchenko. Neil, I have a Silo for you from David Wilson. If you happen to see this post, can you tell me the best way to find you Sunday?

For one, you would relegate yourself for not following the race route. And two, you would miss the great railroad tunnels...honestly I don't know why you want to stay on US-24. I would get off that highway sooner if I could!

The gravel road is actually pretty nice. Not much traffic, nice views of the river, cool tunnels, etc. And, yes, that is the CTR route--which is not always the same as the guidebook. If you're racing, you must follow the course.
