Scott, I'm not really sure, but from what I see in the 'unofficial' start list and on Billy's FB-profile it looks like the 2015 TD-season will start in less than three days. Irrespective of the open issues regarding the final route around Rawlins: Will it be possible to follow the early ITT-ers on trackeleaders.com?
Thanks for what you, Matthew and Joe do for the Tour Divide and special thanks to 'Crazy' Larry who will be a great host for all the SoBo-starters in Banff. This will be a great TD-season to follow. Good luck to all riders!
The TD tracker (albeit in skeleton form) is up with Billy on it. He's showing at AW now -- starting, tomorrow I believe! http://trackleaders.com/tourdivide15I have a preliminary new route file, waiting for the final word to release it. It's looking like ya'll will have 45 or so less miles to ride this year. But more dirt, and some of it harder/rougher. ML thinks time-wise the re-routes will be a wash, but 45 is a significant number....

Indeed he is, awesome. I have never done the divide, but taking 45 miles off a desolate part of the route seems to be significant. I'm interested to know how rough it really is.

On the other hand, 45 miles@10mph = 4.5 hours and yearly variables of weather and route conditions cause swings of way more than that anyway. Plus, the post-Rawlins road construction was causing a problem.

Has anyone other than Billy Rice completed a yoyo? Just curious.

If Matthew indeed gives an official re-route, will that affect people's ability to get an official record for the race?

Nice one Nat! Good meeting you last year in Banff, I could not catch up to you after Elkford, doubt you'll even remember who I am.

I notice Billy Rice began his ride at around 10:00pm ... is the general opinion that he did this to avoid the heat of day, or that it was simply the convenient time for him to begin?

He's from south Texas. I doubt the 84* would bother him too much. Once you get in the area, I don't think there is too much to do so you might as well head off. I am shooting for a window between 6-8 am on 5/24. It works out for my wife to drop me off and for her to get home and still have a relaxing Memorial Day.

Keep in mind that he's doing a YoYo. He wants to be there in time for the GD. He'll be riding a tandem back with his daughter!

I know I won't catch him, but hopefully I will see him and his daughter on the return leg. He's from College Station ( I think) which is only 60 or so miles from me. The GD starts 20 days into my ride. If things are going well I should be in Northern Montana (crossing fingers) by the time the onslaught of riders charge towards me. Getting nervous now.

I arrive from Australia into LA June 4 for NoBo ITT. I'm planning to begin riding June 6 from AW with hopefully not too much jet lag from the loooong flight. Forgive me if I don't smile and wave to every South Bound rider whenever it is that we do cross paths. I hope all your prep is going well. Enjoy the journey. Cheers! Saul

Saul I think the proper etiquette is to have a beer with each one you pass.
