Still debating this, and not a lot of time left to get things together, so I need to make a decision soon. If I do, it will be one box and it will be to someplace in Colorado, either Steamboat or Salida.

As for mailing things - consider what you are mailing and if this is something you can pick up along the way.  Lots of time could be wasted waiting to pick up the package - Timing is key Smiley

fwiw:

I just downloaded the V2 .img file to my ETrex 30, disabled the v1 file, enabled the v2 file.  See no roads, contour lines, etc.  Disable V2, enable V1, can see roads, contour lines.  Delete V2 on Garmin, download file from Topofusion again, download to Garmin.  Same result.  V1 looks normal, V2 'blank'.  Looks like file size is correct.

Anyone else see something like this?

For the moment, I'm falling back to V1.  Am leaving in the morning towards Banff to start my ITT on Friday, June 5.  Hopefully, I'll get some narrative from Matt describing the Wamsutter route and I can use that and the red line to get through to Wamsutter and on to Savery.

TIA

4 hours, yep.

FYI - thanks to John Fairbairn, we have a "v2" of the garmin .img file for basemaps.  A couple of tiles were added to the original v1 file to cover the Wamsutter reroute.  Thanks John!

It's on my topofusion/divide gps page (same place for the GPX).

My guess is that because both are on the device and are very similar they are interfering with each other. Try moving the version one file off of the device and putting just the version two file on the device as opposed to using enable/disable with both residing on it.

Slowride ...

Thank you for the 'guess'.  I am paranoid about deleting something that's working, so I moved the V1 file to another folder that already existed on the Garmin.  Hopefully, effectively deleted it.  When I went back to the map, the V2 file was automatically enabled and I see roads, contours, etc when sampling a few spots.  Should be able to confirm more when driving up there this week.  I do see details at Wamsutter and at a way point I marked last year in MT.

Thanks again.  I know the gps is supposed to be able to handle multiple maps, but I as usual not always.

Hey Tour Dividers,

Up until very recently I thought I'd be on the start line this year.  One of the things I wanted have on my cue sheets was elevation profiles and ascent/descent numbers between towns to use as a rough estimate of upcoming efforts.  A few years ago I built a small web app that could do this for the main Great Divide route.  With the TD diverging more significantly from the main route this year, I decided to create a Tour Divide 2015 version with the V2 track.

http://td-2015.eatsleepridegreatdivide.com/

I figured some of you might also like to have this info at your disposal.  Send me a PM if you run into problems or have a question about the app.  There are still some things I'd like to add, but I figured it's complete enough to put out there with the GD happening so soon.

I have a request for you southbound Tour Divide racers. When you get to New Mexico, you're going to have your bear spray leftover. You can't take in on a plane. So give those dogs who are chasing you a good snootful.

Thanks, from somebody who'll be coming along later and who isn't as fast as you are.

I was told I needed to save it for all of the groupies that were gonna be at the finish line. Is that not the case?  glasses2

Trackleaders will have plenty of rentals available.  Sign-up is coming (for both your own SPOT and rentals -- same form).

Hi, I´ve sign up, but I only want know where and when it will be available? I´m coming from Europe so I hope it will be somewhere in Banff :-). Thanks

I just learned that my cell phone service provider (Straight Talk) does not have roaming services. Does anybody know where one might go in Calgary or Banff to get a cell phone calling card?? Can that be done with cell phones (temporary international plan through your an alternate service provider)??

Hi everyone,

Quick question, just looking for general responses from anyone...

My wife has graciously planned to drive to pick me up in Antelope Wells.  That has always been the plan.
We would spend some time doing "touristy" things as we drive back together.
It's a long ways,  30+ hours (to Sherwood Park, AB)

Just considering a change of plan or at least a "Plan B".

Anyone that can comment on taking the shuttle (Juan More Time...) to El Paso,  check my bike (box it...) and then take the train Via L.A.,  up the west coast to Spokane, then across to Whitefish?   Either my wife would get me there (much closer) or I could of course ride the route back to Banff.

I'll happily dig in and check that out myself, but wondered if anyone had any experience to let me know if that is even a realistic option.

(and no... the Billy Rice yo yo option won't work for me!)
