I was wondering what others got for the milage difference near Fish Lake Mtn re-route. I calculated 8.8 less miles then if we were to go over Union Pass.
I got about the same but the new route had about 500m(1500ft) more climbing Well, thats what Basecamp told me.
Did anyone see Billy's video from the new section? Interesting(sorry, I can't paste it into here on the iPad)

Hello all! Wishing all you GD riders luck in your final prep. I'll be starting July 1st assuming all goes smoothly in transit.

I've successfully uploaded the new 2015 track to my Garmin, but I'm wondering if cue sheets for the re-route to Wamsutter have been posted anywhere? I've looked around (tour divide page, Topofusion, this thread) but I'm not having any luck.

I'd appreciate any input or advice. In the end, I can just follow the track, but I like to use cue sheets too to keep my mind busy.

Happy trails, Nick

Cue Sheets are still pending.  Matt told me a couple of days ago they'd be coming asap.
I'm leaving as a SOBO ITT in about 30 minutes so assume that I'll see them show up in email before I need them in Wyoming.

Rumor has it that the Spot Registration emails are starting to get sent. Shouldn't be much longer now.

Hey all it is Jason from SOUL Ski and Bike in Banff.

We are eagerly awaiting your arrival this upcoming week in Banff for your Grand Depart.
Just a few notes of housekeeping, we have made a pile of space on the upper level of our shop for you to lounge in. A bunch comfy chairs, a new espresso machine and a Multiple Unit Electronic Charging Station from OUTDOOR TECH so you can ensure your goodies are charged for your departure.

Wednesday evening our friends at the Banff Avenue Brew Pub will be showing "Ride the Divide" and offering a host of specials exclusively for TD riders. Stop by the shop for more details and directions to the pub.

Thursday at 3pm, Mike Dion Film Maker of "Ride the Divide" will be showing his new movie "Inspired to Ride" at the Lux Theater here in Banff. His movie has been garnering huge fanfare as he makes his way North in his traveling self supported circus.  The Theater will sell out so arrive early and join in on the fun.

Lastly if you SHIPPED your bicycle via a courier, PLEASE CHECK YOUR tracking details.  I can confirm at least one bicycle is hung up at customs due to the waybill not being filled out correctly.  We cannot clear personal product under an individuals name if the waybill is not filled out correctly. Customs will not give us contact numbers of the shipper to reach out and inform the shipper of delays. I do not want to see any last minute panic if it can be prevented.

Thanks all we are huge fans of your adventure and look forward to seeing you all next week
Should you have any questions do not hesitate to reach out to me personally to help.

Hi guys.

I know this isn't the place for introductions but I've never been much of a rule follower. Just wanted to wish all the fools riding the TD a safe and fun trip before you hit the road.

Keep your rig up and the water out! Wait, that's sailing. Still sort of applies.

Anyone know the time we actually leave Banff on the 12th (versus the planned time)? Gotta figure if I need to do ITT early to get to Elkford in time for brunch  icon_biggrin. Save ya some lithium batteries - honest!

I see Bill Peshka did a 5 am-ish depart, looks like he makes Elkford tonight. Of course he's older than me (by a few months...eeek!)

I rode the J falls section last year,  early july.   Was fairly easy to find.   From Elkford, go left/east, up the hill.   big parking lot on right/south side, with a JF trail sign and map on it.   As long as you follow the trail (singletrack) nearest the canyon, and keep going south bound, you will get on some fireroads, and keep going south onto better labeled/marked roads.

{{ Modified, added mile 4.8 to be clear where single track ends }}

Mile   Dist   Turn   Comment

0                Leave Elkford, cross Fording River uphill
2.4   2.4   R   0.25 after uphill curve, at pullout, 'JF' sign?, on dirt rd
2.7   0.3   L   At Y
3.4   0.7   LB  At Y
4.3   0.9   R   Single track 0.15 after wide area in rd, 0.25 before end of road
4.8    0.5   R      Track crosses primitive road, turn R towards main road
4.9   0.1   L   At T
12.5   7.6   S   At jnct: old route comes in from left (mile 15.7 on old route)

Where R = turn Right, L turn Left, LB Bear Left, S = Straight. Sorry for formatting.

This is my Google Earth take on the JF reroute, so buyer beware 'cause I ain't been there to smoke test it yet!

Just got mine as well and I am all signed up.

Just wondering if a senior member(or someone appropriate) might like to open a 2015 Race thread so that those of us coming from international locations can set up our families and friends with the thread link?
It is getting real now!

There's a great sailing adventure race starting tomorrow in Victoria. I'm at the start, and it reminds me a lot of the TD! http://www.nytimes.com/2015/06/06/us/a-race-to-alaska-no-motors-but-no-limits-on-imagination.html?emc=edit_th_20150606&nl=todaysheadlines&nlid=38066634&_r=0

Okay so this is a bit delayed due to getting permission to post, but Billy Rice, via a circuitous route on a jeep trail that suddenly ended, finally made it to Ovando around 7 pm which was several hours late.  Dinner at Trixi's, overnight in the Ovando Hotel, breakfast at the Bullet and jetted out to make it to Whitefish by the end of the day yesterday.  Here he is with Colleen, owner of the Stray Bullet, meeting up with him at Trixi's.
