I had a feeling Jack would be fairly quick through the Canyon, but under 12 hours?!? He was cruising!!

Nearing completion of an epic journey!! I ran into this guy with his DAD riding unicycles at Horse ridge here in central Oregon couple months ago........... I was awestruck then and even more so now. I beat my brains out in 2014 riding this race and I `m sure it`s over twice as hard on a unicycle. Very impressive mate! Know the Prinevillans are tracking you and cheering you on. Few more hours...

Got interested in this race late. Even though I was late, have to say it was fun following everyone. Great ride Jack.

With Jack rolling into the Stateline Trailhead, that concludes this season of racing on the AZT. Time to shut the tracker down and thank everyone for a fantastic year. The stories are still coming out, so please post them here or email a link to me so I can get them linked in the results.
I heard of positive commentary from a Grand Canyon ranger that one of our riders towards the back relayed to me. It seems there were no issues and, if anything, they were excited about all the bikepackers crossing the canyon en route to an AZT completion. That's really great to hear. Thus far I've heard very little in the way of negative feedback from racers, land agencies or those along the route, so everyone deserves my sincere thanks on that. Being respectful and ensuring the future of bikepack racing on the AZT is, in many ways, more important than going fast. This was a good group this year.
Race date is already set for next year: April 7, 2017.

Thank you Scott, good to finally meet you. I must say that as a rookie this year and with the perspective of almost a month now since I finished, the AZTR is sinking deeply into my blood and leaving lasting memories and fleeting emotions that randomly grab me throughout the day. Like when Maurizio Doro finally caught back up to me at 2am near the American Flag trailhead when I thought he was ahead, and I had crashed earlier in the night on Oracle Ridge and had a nasty cut and bruise on my left palm. I was in that deep, dark place inside my head and all of a sudden there was his light behind me, and his big Italian smile...hardly ever been so happy to see anyone in my life! Really loved my AZTR experience this year.

I spoke too soon. AZTR season is not yet over.
Kaitlyn Boyle has reloaded, found a 'cool' (for this time of year!) window, and is hitting it from the Mexican border come 4am tomorrow. The tracker is active again!
There are certain advantages to challenging the trail in May (longer days, warmer nights among them) but the heat will be a challenge. Kurt's 750 record was set in May as an ITT, so perhaps Kaitlyn can match that performance and set her own 750 record.
Go Kaitlyn!

It looks like Kaitlyn didn't actually start until a little after 5:00 a.m. Scott, do ITT start times get adjusted to when the rider actually launches? Also, will Boyle Two show up on the Leaderboard so we can stalk and compare her split times?
Is anyone else squealing with excitement for this girl to be making a second run?! Kaitlyn "Killin' It" Boyle ~ go, Girl!!!

Looks like she got rolling about 5:30am. I changed her start time to reflect that.
Normally ITTers are pulled out of the LB so they don't confuse things during the race, but in this case it would be fun to compare. After she passes a few time splits, I'll remove that restriction.
Hope she gets some clouds, a cooling breeze, or something, the next few days!

Thank you for all of your dedicated work on Trackleaders, Scott. I dove in pretty deep while stalking George on his 300 ~ it's quite a dynamic site! I can't say much for cloud coverage, but Kaitlyn will definitely have a breeze today. Forecasting SW gusts up to 20 mph. The UV rating is pretty high, though, at 12 ~ makes for that lovely sizzling skin feeling. :-(

Kaitlyn is out, realizing pretty early on that her head just wasn't in it -- 'mentally worked' is how is put it.
Fortunately, the trail will be there next year, and in the (altogether harder, IMO) Fall season, too.
