After abandoning using a chamois last summer and going 'padless' I'm curious about the use of new age compression shorts for Ultra's... think 2XU and the like.. I always wear overshorts so I'm not too concerned with the aesthetics, solely user experiences of the supposed marketed benefits.

Anyone using these for long races? Care to share experiences? Benefits, negatives, etc...
Thanks.

What are you wearing right now that you like? I've used Smartwool undies and some Calvin Klein 100% nylon boxer briefs, but never for really long trips.

I finished the 2013 TD.  I did the whole damn thing,
excluding the 2013 detours, in good style and—as
far as I know—totally in accordance with the rules.

I've got some Icebreaker 'Zone' shorts. I'm a huge fan of merino anywhere I can use it. I'm curious of the supposed benefits of the 2XU type shorts for recovery, reduced fatigue, blah blah etc... My legs were so swollen after the AZT300 last year and at north of $100/pair was curious if anyone has used them (at all or) for multi days.
