There's a little cabin just up the hill from the Bolton Trading post. I didn't stay there but it's there as a first come first serve kinda deal.

Thanks for the update Dave. Good to know others have not heard anything back either. I was getting rather nervous.
Rest assured, all ducks will be in a row and the race will go on! It's quite normal for Matthew to get overwhelmed with email and become non-responsive this time of year. Don't worry though, he's on the case! Sounds like the new GPX should be ready this week.

Hi TDers - I've created a small town notes sheet that I want to share. My goal was to be concise enough to fit it all on one sheet of paper (4 pages per side), but that didn't happen so there's now PLENTY of room on the second sheet of paper for more beta. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8oe4581fjkokm64/TD%20TownNotes%20Updated%202016.pdf?dl=0Vets and those with knowledge of the route, can you look it over to point out any issues you see and to add any good information I've left off? You can msg me or leave a comment there on the dropbox link. Thanks! To add to this, I had some friends who toured the route last August and they said that the community centre in Vallecitos is open for water, frozen food, occasional cooked meals & wifi. And the dogs are friendly if you slow down to say Hi (they are very doggy folks)

This is great and is effectively what I've been working on for the past few days. Is there any chance you still have the word version of this? Converting from PDF to a word doc is never as straight forward as I would like it to be. Thanks for sharing!!
I have it in Apple Pages. Exporting to Word didn't preserve the formatting well - I can still post it if you want.

I've had many people PM me for it in Word, so I recreated it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/r0qeg05cg568frj/TD%20Notes%20v2.docx?dl=0Best printed 4 pages to a sheet, front and back. Please contribute your changes back!

Any one have information on shuttles from Deming? I am riding NoBo and someone is nice enough to drive me to the start from SoCal, but it will put me in NM on the 7th with time to kill. Looks like Deming is the closest city enough to spend a few days.

Perhaps I'm doing something wrong, but it's not pulling up for me. It appears to be HTML that doesn't convert to the document when I try to open it. Anyone else having an issue?

Has anyone had issues with condensate under the screen of their eTrex 30? No rain exposure and wouldn't evaporate until I took the back cover off.

Yep, but if you grabbed it this morning you got v1. Make sure your file is named 'v2' for the latest, which includes another reroute right near the beginning. Also, I just posted a 'v3' GDMBR basemap (.img file) for Garmin units. It has been updated to include the Butte stuff as well as more Canadian coverage, so it should be the whole dang route. Gary Meyer was on top of this one -- thanks Gary.

Does anyone knows how the SPOT Gen3 24 hr timeout works? I bought one and was planning to use it but now I see that in the rental option they say the rental one doesn't have that restriction. Does this mean that if I go more than 24 moving (not that I'm planning to but...) it will stop tracking me? Does it come online automatically after some wait time?
I did a few searches and looked on the Spot page but couldn't find anything...
Thanks!

Our rental units have 'unlimited' tracking enabled which means they don't timeout after 24 hours. They are also at a 5min ping rate. Both of those options cost more than the cheapest 'basic' tracking option. If you don't have unlimited you can still track 100% of the time, you just have to turn your SPOT on/off every day. The problem, of course, is people often forget, and then their friends/families panic because they don't track for a day or so. With unlimited tracking we see a lot better tracking performance.

Dropbox has an HTML5 word doc viewer that you're seeing. There should be a download button on that page somewhere.

Thanks for the heads up! Is that V3 basemap on the same page? I'm seeing v2 only.
