With arm continuing to bother me looks like I'm out of the 750. Now I need to figure out how I'm getting home. I'm in superior. Anybody heading towards Moab,UT Durango or carbondale, CO?
Did you get a ride? Im heading to forest lakes AZ on Saturday. Need a lift to the airport? Im somewhat close to Picketpost.

Great racing to those finished, those scratched, and those still out there. I was bummed to abandon but didn't feel too confident in the duct taped frame idea thrown my way. Does anybody have plans to be back at parker canyon trailhead? David collins lost his garmin 25 right at the start. It was recovered and left on the sign post. We were up in Phoenix and flying out so had no plans to go back. I'd be happy send postage money if anyone has plans to be down there and would be willing to ship it to me. I'll take it to him if so.

Hi everyone...
What to say about my first AZT300 Attempt? Well firstly I finish it! Yeah. I was really surprised to hear how many scratches there were from good experienced riders. Being a first timer I felt like I was struggling the entire time and was just barely making it. Turns out that feeling I guess is just normal. EVERYONE feels tired and worn out.
Still I had some moments. Ran out of water just I saw the ranch house in colossal cave. Ok no big deal water is just around the corner.... Ok next corner.... Ugg. Took a long time, but I got to La Sevilla drank 2 full bottles worth. Then refilled my stash. Dodged a bullet there.
At safeway I refuled and Nancy Gray conviced me to take an extra 1L on my next push. So I left 4L and two bottles. Felt good, but it took a while. Started to get worried on water consumption so I stopped at the "Lake" and tried my luck at filtering. Filtered 2 bottles and another liter. Hmm why is my water brown still? Oh well. Better to have it than to run out. Later at Prison camp I decided to boil all that water I pulled from the lake. I think my filter crapped out. So boiled some for cooking and boiled the rest in my bottles. Still had fresh water in the camelback so pushed up to summerhaven without needing the swamp water.
Had lunch with Alexis, Nancy and Jeff in summerhaven. Good rest and refuel. Smoked Oracle ridge if that is possible and had great ride to Circle K in Oracle. Push through night to Freeman and make the last day push. Felt slow, but made it. Those final 36 miles are hard. I had ridden it all before, but it is easy to forget how much effort it all is even. Even in the last half mile you have keep you head and legs to make it.
So happy I finish. 3 day 16hrs and 45 min. I was surpised when looked at the leader board. Turns out it was a solid time as well.
So next year? Maybe.... I am already thinking of how to refine things to save time, energy here and there.

Evan S. (Evdog) just finished his ITT of the 300. Cheers!! Nailed it on your first try.
I caught up to Evdog at the circle K on oracle and he was riding strong and steady from there to the finish. We played leap frog that night and all day monday. He won that battle.

Sorry it took me so long, back to the 2 job grind... Anyway here are some pics I managed to snag, both during the race and after I dropped. Justin Smith at the Patagonia general store Brett Stepanik at Three Bridges If you're gonna bail on the AZT300, do it in style. Rhino checking in at Picketpost. El Freako Hemperly leaving Picketpost. Justin Smith at Picketpost. Jason Shearer at Picketpost. Mike DeBernardo at Picketpost. Jeff Z loving the Jacob Crosscut addition!!

Good to see Justin staying on the AZT so far, let's hope he doesn't need any of the Mormon Lake detour.

Yes, yes, that's fine form to be leading the race and set the standard by sticking with the trail. Bravo Justin.

Hart, there's still some late ITTs so maybe try to contact them. Alice Drobna AZT 750 - ITT (Individual Time Trial) 04/21/2017 07:00 Arunas Vysniauskas AZT 750 - ITT (Individual Time Trial) 04/21/2017 07:00 Gabriel Doutreloux AZT 750 - ITT (Individual Time Trial) 04/21/2017 07:00 Jean-Francois Cantin AZT 750 - ITT (Individual Time Trial) 04/21/2017 07:00 In related housekeeping news, I found a couple of items on trail on 4/5 or 4/6: - a Schwab cycles water bottle (it was full, thanks for the water!) - a cinch strap for a Revelate Sweetroll or something similar (with the little foam block and buckle) Let me know if they're yours and I can mail them to you.

Good idea on the ITT's. Failing that, I bet a thru hiker could be bribed to pick it up and mail it from Patagonia. The PO is right on route for them. Look for the "Arizona Trail hiking" FB group.

Brett's last 3 calls have been great, enjoyable ... really starting to get that "750 Day 5+" flavor: another successful Ripsey-to-Kelvin pizza order for the AZT annals (not something I'd do, but fun to hear of others), life's lemons, and pickle spirits. Thanks for the chuckles, Brett.

Shweet ... keep it going Justin, snow or no snow. Stick it. Looking ahead ... just because AZ Snowbowl is reportedly still open tomm, Sat, and Sun and is showing a 90" base doesn't mean anything. Right?

Right? Pfft. That's another 200' or so higher than the AZT. Should be good!! Maybe some snowshoers packed down the trail for some snow biking!!
