Great job Kurt.  Way to crank.

Heavy winds forecast for Flagstaff tomorrow.  Radio said 50 mile per hour gusts.

Lots of riders doing great.

We've got three riders in Flagstaff right now: Brad Ells, Adam M., and Dan Holmes.  I know Brad and Adam are waiting for REI to open at 9am.  I think they plan to get shoes and packs for Canyon crossing.  Also, Justin Dubois is a man on a mission.  I predict he catches the other 3 by the of the night.

Besides the crazy fast out there, there are some amazing efforts being put out on the other end of the spectrum. Ben Fino-radin on an ITT of the 750 is going pull the plug at picketpost. He was riding with Clayton who is not on the official tracking list - but did participate in the group start - after they met up in Oracle They actually just arrived at PP a few minutes ago. That's some serious resolve to get it done.

I talked to Dan this morning. He had a rough day yesterday getting to Flag. Short on food, etc.  He is good to go and pushing on to the Canyon. He didn't realize the other two racers were in the same hotel. Go Dan!
Looks like Adam wont be breaking my time on the SS this go around. He is a bit behind now. But anything can happen.

I wound up doing the same as Ben and stopped yesterday at Picketpost after just over 6 days.  The 300 was enough for me.  Rode with Ben and Clayton along the way, they're both awesome dudes.

What an awesome ride, so much more brutal than I could have ever imagined.  Really learned a lot and excited to have been a part of this!

So impressed by all the incredible riders out there, you guys are all badasses.

Many people are putting together impressive rides out there, and still racing hard.

Temps are dropping just as the peloton gets into the high country.  Not the best timing, but at least there's no serious precip in the forecast.

Tucson folks: looking for a volunteer to head up to where the AZT crosses Redington.  Apparently there was a cache set up (for the race, but public??) on the south side, by the metal sign.  And there are bunches of empties, probably now floating around.  If someone could take a ride up there and clean up the mess, I'd sure appreciate it.

Scott, I'll try to head out there later today unless there is an East-sider that can make it happen (I'm far West).

Just got to ride the final switchbacks again, so sweet. First time being here for multiple finishers is cool. Looking for Dusty next he looks like he's crushing the canyon.

Very quick hustle through the ditch at just over 10hrs, or maybe closer to 11 when he tops out.  Either way ... quick walk, that.

Interesting drop into Mormon Lk for Beth S and Dave H, taking AZT to Dbl Sprngs CG then doubling-back on the paved road to the store.  Saves on 500ft of elev gain over Navajo Sprngs direct drop from the ridge to store but adds ~4miles (?) of bonus distance.  I've dropped down both the Nav Sprngs trail and road 219A/90N a little further North, and have my personal preference btwn those two were I ever in that situation again.  Maybe they were pushing past the store and gunnin' for Flag, then reconsidered.

Great vids ... wish they were a little longer  thumbsup.  "it's not about the race, it's about finishing at this point" - I can relate, especially by Flag.  Finish strong, y'all !!!

Yesterday's tailwind is today's, blow you over gusts. Hopefully Dusty was somewhat sheltered in the exposed spots. He should feel somewhat at home on the North rim cold and blowing like AK.

I see Dan has taken 4th. Adam said he would be here 24 hours after Max that's how long he's asking Max and me to wait. He seems to be moving forward well looking forward to seeing him finish.

Today's ride was good more riding less HAB plus bonus miles and more AZT then I planned for.

Also spotted this new trail just south of the state line.
