Lael is flying! Ahead of Kaitlyn Boyle's time from last year, nearly as fast as Kurt Refsnider last year. Is it too fast or will she keep it up?

Not quite Aaron, remember Lael started at 6a today, Kaitlyn started at 8a. Still a solid pace. I'm interested to see how things go tonight.

Since ITT's don't show up on the Leaderboard I've always found it difficult to follow them accurately based on split times to checkpoints... What is the best way.. or how do you guys keep track of the splits to each checkpoint? Do you add/subtract tracked 'dot' times from their posted start time? As I'm on the sidelines this year I want to up my dot stalking game!  Thanks all. |

It's dot watching time for me this year! The 750 last year was an absolute blast, but I'm stoked to spectate this year with so many friends and folks I coach racing It looks like as dusk sets in, Lael is trailing both Neil and Kaitlyn's ghost dot from last year by roughly 80 minutes if my math is correct. That's a dang fast pace...but night two is when things really start to get interesting, so we just get to be patient and see what shakes out. Adam, my method is to compare an ITT's point from a specific location with another year's rider's point at that same spot from a past tracking page. |

Yeah, Adam, that's about all I do as well. Load up the 2018 leaderboard page and see what the elapsed time Kaitlyn took to get there. Then some math skills & clock reading. Lael started at 6:05a according to Rue. As of this posting Lael is about to reach the Tucson checkpoint. Her time is roughly 16:35, Kaitlyn reached the Tucson checkpoint in 15:27, Neil B in 14:54 & Kurt (750) in 16:17. So, looks like she may have knocked a chunk of time of the splits from earlier today. Tonight will be interesting, but I'm going to bed...zzzzzzz.

Clicking on a point gives you a summary of the plot point with the elapsed time 'since start'. Comparing those points (near check points) to previous riders efforts or previous leader boards will work well enough for me. Thanks for the tips guys. |

Dots back up and running. The spot may have lost the signal up top there or if she's on an older spot needed to turn it back on after the 24hour auto shut off.. I think she just powered straight through.
Based on her split to/near Summerhaven She's about 1d 2hours and change. An hour or so behind Kaitlyn's split from last year. Strong riding through the first day!

Fast folks usually cover Oracle to Picketpost in 21-23h range. I'm guessing Lael will be somewhere in the 2days 4h to 2days 5h range. We'll see!

As of 5:30a AZ time, Lael is about 19 miles from Picketpost in HAB mode on that steep jeep road leading up to Dale's Butte. It's gonna be close, based on a 6:05a start time, 9:02a is the time she needs to beat. Adam, I think you about nailed it. Still plenty of slow going in there. It is a beautiful cool morning here in the desert today...

Amazing. Lael, who was known more for not stopping than riding fast, who says she probably only pushes 100 watts and who wondered if she could finish within 24 hours of the record, is really fast! It will be exciting to see her 750 run next year.

Hitting the record or not, what an awesome effort from Lael. Her REI Every Trail Connects video was my first exposure to both bikepacking and the Arizona Trail. Always rooting hard for her.

What an exciting finish to "watch." Lael put in a huge ride...and it looks like she'll become the 5th fastest rider ever on the 300 by my count! Now two of the five fastest riders ever are women. How long until one breaks the 45-hour barrier and takes the overall record?

Super strong push to the finish, so awesome! maybe squeek in just under 2d 4h.
Does anyone know how accurate the 'stopped time' funciton is?
Kurt's record time from 2014 showed 1h18! Lael's finish will show about the same or possibly less, so amazing!

the AZ Trail app now has the 'Bike Route' included! no more math involved in calculating the Wilderness reroutes. Not sure of the price on the non-demo-free (full trail) version, as I have had it install for a few years but I believe I paid around $5 for it. It's a bargain at 5x the price. Does everything for you except pedal.
