Nice work Justin. Pedialyte is a good choice. tried to get what calories you can to heal up. It's been a cold winter in CO and I'm sure the heat down there is treating you too well.

Garrett,
I rode much of the tour divide with Deanna Adams 10 years ago. She was on a fixe. The gal is tough as nails. I've recommended she use a geared mtn bike on the rough AZT but she loves fixe. Not sure why she rode off course yesterday and I haven't checked her dot today to see if she is still in or scratched. Wonderful person!

Garrett, The old Rincon Market has re-opened under the name Rocking K Market and is next to the Farmer's Market on Old Spanish Trail. I guess if the riders didn't know & weren't paying attention, they missed it.
Nice to have that option reopened right on route. Definitely makes the stretch from Sonoita to Summerhaven (or Oracle) a little friendlier. People are rockin' out there. Go SSer's!

I’m scratching out today. I started cramping around mile 75. I pushed onto to mile 95 last night. I woke up at 1:30 puking and dry heaving- haven’t been able to keep anything down since then. I limped into Tucson and tried to find a combo of stomach medicine and basic food (bread/crackers/etc) that would let something stay down. No luck outside of milk of magnesia and pedialyte and even that seems on the edge. 9 hours without food has left me destroyed. I’m not sure what happened - I may have gone out too hard or just didn’t listen to my body early enough. Given the heat and lack of calories I’m able to consume - proceeding seems stupid. Not going to finish this time.
Thanks again John! Good luck to everyone out there!
Justin Nelson
Hey Justin, nice meeting you out there, you were definitely riding strong! Probably a good move pulling the plug with HOT temps today. Something to think about: Sunday, July 28th, 2019 - 4am.

Talked with a deputy Sheriff out on Gardner apparently there's a missing person. They had a small command post at the junction with Cave Creek.

Has anyone heard from Crazy Mike? I've heard through the grapevine he crashed hard and messed himself up pretty bad. Last tracking at KC. Wondering if he's really still there, or if someone possibly drove in to get him. Hoping he's okay!

Wow Neil is crushing. I haven't looked yet, but he can't be that far off from Kurt's torrid pace from last year...

Is she on a fixie with no brakes? hardcore!
Hope she's doing well. She doesn't appear to be tracking anymore. Good to see her get out in this event, though, as I haven't heard anything about her recently.

So...Josh Uhl just had the biggest anomaly I've ever seen on a GPS. He took a quick trip way down to Central Mexico. Check out his tracker history. Haha!

Hopefully the boys at the front aren't melting in The heat after dropping off Lemmon. Huw spent the winter in the Canadian Rockies and Neil in Minnesota...both a far cry from what must feel like a furnace now. I bet they're both counting down the hours until the sun sets. With <100 miles to go, we might be seeing a 51 hour finish for Huw and 53 for Neil (for the 300 portion of his ride) if they can keep the wheels on. Or at least those are my predictions 😁

I was JUST looking at Huw's time compared to your 2014 time, Kurt. He's missed that, but I was thinking he'd still finish in the top 5 fastest if he can keep it going!

Sorry about the downtime folks. We're back and Huw has finished for the 300 win!
Neil B. it out.
Mike K broke his hand but is OK; I heard from him.
Deanna also had a crash but is OK and has scratched.
Many more scratches ... it's another very tough year!

I have been watching on with mixed emotions, wanting to be out there enjoying the ride into Kentucky camp or the sweet section after La Sevilla but then I remember the heat and grovelling....... Great effort by most so far. Keep it going! News from Kiwi Dave W - his stomach got left behind for the first few days as per last year but like last year, once it catches up he will get a second wind. His Spot died and needed some tape and the batteries wedging to make contact, hence the gap in his tracking. That tracker has done a lot of rough miles! Thanks John for the photos and the updates. Nice work as usual.

She had a drum brake on the front, the way we go through brake pads she could have worn her's out. Either that or the rear CX tire likely got her. I forgot to ask her what gear inch she was running but it looked tall. I guess you need taller running fixed with no straps or clipless.
