Hanoch took the Red route.
He had very good progress in the last 20 hours. He had to pool out to Superior because he was out of food for most of the day.
He just parked before going on tarmac.

Yup, a WWF worthy pile driver when bungee went into front spokes. Maybe that's not the optimum method for transporting camp flipflops 😉 Strava said it was at 17.8 mph. broken left hand is the worst of it, as bad as my face looked it didn't need stichs. A copule of drops of super glue closed it up
Glad to hear you made it out ok and the worst of it was the hand. That was one hell of a yard sale and lots of blood from that cut over your eye. When I came up on you and Collin, I thought it was going to be much worse. Hope to catch back up with you again another time in better circumstances.  Be well friend! |

JD is topping out on the Four Peaks Rd. climb this morning. Timed it right by doing a huge chunk in the cool darkness. Now just a bit more climbing along the Mazatzal Divide, mostly rideable dirt roads. Then he'll get a ripping 8 mile chunk of singletrack into Sunflower.
If you haven't seen it, on the elevation graph below the Trackleaders main map, you can toggle between the 750 route and the Four Peaks version of the 750. You'll see the twin spikes of doom designating the difference in elevation. The two climbs being: Four Peaks Rd. & FR201.
Will there be any more takers...

Really cool seeing people take the option - the smart play is definitely not doing Four Peaks when getting blasted by the sun given the temps at least in my opinion having experienced that. Let's see how Ben Hanus fares with a daytime push. |

Exactly, Mike. We were roasting out there and it was barely 70* that day...or maybe that was our lack of fitness...
Looks like ITT'er MW missed the turn in Rye, hoping he realizes it & heads back down the hill.

No doubt. I've never hit that section of trail unfortunately. When that transitions to segment 19 how obvious is it that it is wilderness and off limits to bikes? Maybe he is just trying to get ultra bad ass points for getting as much AZT as possible?

Since we have a couple of riders out on the Four Peaks option, here are a few blog posts over the past few months from the recon rides. That way you all can get an idea of what the terrain is like. Some of these reports overlap each other a bit. Four Peaks Bikepack This one, we found out that the Bulldog Canyon singletrack would not be suitable for the route. Then we bailed down El Oso road. So, this report covers the beginning of the route to the top of Four Peaks Rd. Four Peaks to Sunflower This one was done as a shuttle from the bottom of Four Peaks Rd. up & over to Sunflower. Sunflower to Deer Creek (AZT22/FR201/Goldridge) This is the final installment. This shuttle ride started in Sunflower and went up FR201 & down Goldridge trail. Also, here's the Logging Detour in Flagstaff. |

Hanoch Redlich has really put together a nice ride after sitting out a full day in Tucson. He's about to become the overall leader. It's cool to see his progress on the Raceflow tab in Trackleaders, one-by-one ticking off the riders in front of him. Granted our two Four Peaks riders would be much farther up the route, but still.

That is incredible beta for the logging reroute. Great job!!!!
I think the Pinyons and Pines ride/race will need to do a similar detour for the May event.
I rode Azt Saturday from the AZT sign at Babbit Ranch to FS 151, as part of a loop around Kendrick Mountain. The road had been grated at some point and was in much better condition than last time I rode it a couple years ago. Tough riding as I was into some strong headwinds. That will hopefully be tailwinds for the AZT race heading Northbound.

Looks like Liz has been leapfrogging Alice's 2015 record pace. Should be interesting. Curious to see the Roosevelt split since Liz added the Gold Canyon stuff.
