Fast, stacked field this year!!
Looks like Kurt took a 2 hour nap a bit after Cataract Lake last night. Timon may have gotten in a snooze at Spring Creek Pass. Nice to see some competition at the front end.

And just like that Kurt is off on his own, ridiculously far ahead of everyone.
Just read on FB that Timon has pulled out...

Tough call for Timon, but with a bicuspid heart valve issue he made the best decision. Not something you want to play around with.It was shaping up to be a battle to the finish between Kurt and Timon.

Some points of reference.
- Kurt made it to Silverton at 6:15pm two years ago. This year he made it to Silverton at 4:45. - Scott Sidener made it to Silverton at 10:30pm two years ago. This year he made it at 7:15pm. - Two years ago, 8 people made it to Silverton before 10pm. This year, about 20 people will have passed through by 10pm.
Impressive riding this year for sure but this may also have something to do with how crappy the weather was day one in 2017

Ben,
I remember the wet weather in 2017 for days. You did a great job finishing. Glad the racers this year are off to some dry conditions but it may not hold at some point. Go Kurt!!!

Looks like Kurt is about 2 1/2 hours off Jesse's record pace through Cochetopa Park. (3:20:44 is the time to beat) Plenty of riding to go!! ...and hiking...

Alexandra Houchin is in first place in the women's category. She's on a single-speed.

The women’s race has me on the edge of my seat! Lee and Alex are flying and are so close. Super exciting to follow.

Wonder how long Kurt will spend in BV. I'm always amazed at how quickly the fast guys can resupply. I think that's where they really make up time on the rest of us. He's probably not planning on getting a burger at K's
