Uncharacteristically long break for Kurt this morning. He took a 3hr break last night on the Leadville detour. Hope all is ok. I'd love to see him rolling again!

Well morning coffee at Copper Mountain Mtn sounds like a great option after the awesome zoom down from Searle Pass.  A little caffeine jolt may be great for the steep climb ahead for Kurt.  He seems to be riding a great race!  Many others speeding along as well.

Has weather been good this year so far?

Awesome!

If you look at the time it took him to go from Camp Hale to Copper, that might have been his Spot Tracker timing out for most of that 3hr flat line.  It takes 4-5 hours to get up and over Searle and that's about what he did so he actually might not have stopped at all last night!

Yes, I noticed his spot then jumped way ahead...so you're probably right that he didn't stop at all.

He makes it look so easy (as did you!) that whenever he stops at all I'm like, 'something must be wrong, get moving again!'. Ha

I believe he scratched due to ongoing issues with his left knee. source: alpine_luddites on Instagram

Dumb question,

With today's technology do some of the leaders know what kind of lead they have or is everyone just riding blind?

A lot of riders are hauling ass out there.  Good to see.

There's cell reception a few times a day to check trackleaders.   Was still getting 4g LTE at 12.5k north of Silverton.  Then can definitely get it in Buena Vista, Leadville, Copper, Breck...etc

Kurt's at the Divide! Can only imagine how pretty it is up there right now. A wall of purple full of lighting to his east (concert delay at Red Rocks right now) and the sun getting low to his west. Weather breaking up and clearing all around him.

Georgia is a such a special place for anyone who's spent any time on the CT.

I will enjoy watching the rest of his ride. He is one of those guys who continues to inspire with his rides...

#CTR19 - Alexandera Houchin called in yesterday evening from near Clear Creek!  Sounds like she took a fall on a hike-a-bike and re-broke her rib. Doesn't sound like she's stopping though!

awesome to see an "older" group in the top 10- gives me hope and makes me feel young

age and experience? or mentally tougher? better tolerate sleep deprivation?

But there's some folks like me that never carried a phone and had no idea what others were doing.  Personal choice.

Kurt's just a couple miles from the end!   Or maybe already done and waiting for the spot to track....

edit - now showing done.  Nice work Kurt!

Cookie Mike really put the hammer down and separated himself for a solid 2nd place finish. Congrats!! Ben Hanus also dug deep and crept up the rankings over the past couple of days. He should be wrapping things up shortly for 3rd and he was posting songs from the top of Kokomo...dude is hectic.

Alexandera mentioned her old spot tracker on her Bikes Or Death interview...maybe it finally died. http://bikesordeath.libsyn.com/
