Bunch of folks starting over the next few days including Pete B and Timon, both super fast dudes starting Sunday and Monday respectively. Should be another fun dot watching weekend.

Thanks Adam! I had an unfortunate series of events starting at mile 65. I sliced my front sidewall on a descent in the Canelos. Had no clue it had happened. Realized it was flat on next climb. I stitched it with floss, but it wouldn't hold air. Put in a tube. In the process of putting in a tube, my helmet came off and the zip ties holding my fenix flashlight snapped. I didn't want to take the time to remount and forged on with only a bar light. This was a mistake. Problem was that near-wheel light from bars is blocked by front roll. Which came into play at mile 75 when I clipped my R pedal on a boulder protruding into the trail. Endo, hit head, hyper-extended my R elbow as wheel flipped around. Head is fine. Elbow is not yet fine. Turns out front rim is actually punctured! Yeesh! I really enjoyed the new trail work in the Canelos! Not just the re-route in Canelos west, but some of the middle parts of Canelos east have been redone since I last rode it in 2017. The Canelos were ... enjoyable! Towards the top of the Canelos east hike-a-bike I remembered puking in 2017. Yesterday I thought - wow, I feel great! The gale force headwind on Hog Canyon ridge, heading away from K camp, and the start of the AZ trail post K-camp (basically any time facing south or west!) was a real gem and knocked me around a lot. So I walked more than I wanted. But that's ok. The re-route in Canelos west passes through some spectacular geology - lots of altered volcanics and what appeared to be a basalt flow in a drainage. Really cool. Anyway, such a bummer all around. It was my best day 1 yet. I felt really strong, for me. If my elbow improves and I can get my wheel sorted, I may try again.

Dang Alexis! Head bangers in the dark are no fun. Couple of unfortunate circumstances back to back, really glad you?re ok! Hope you heal up quick and find the motivation to get back out there. I think you?ve got a sub 3 day ride waiting for you 💪🏼💪🏼

Anyone know the story behind Jeremy Noble's dot? Did he start super early and start tracking late? Lots of action out there, fun to watch. Peter with a fast pace early on.

JN may have had to ride from SV Pete and I had planned to pick him up on the way down from the state line but plans changed. He was also looking at uber for a ride to the monument VC.
Ok I see now he must have forgot to turn it on this morning.

Yeah - based on where he is at, he must have started really early?

Jeremy started around noon y'day, his ITT starting time was listed as 7a today, so all points began tracking at 7a - when he reached SR82. Scott adjusted his start time back to noon y'day and if you now click on his personal page you'll see all his track points. So, if you say you're going to start your ITT at such & such day at time X, try to do so. Or edit your registration via email link. Makes it easier for everyone.
Alexis, so glad to hear you're on the mend. I miss your mtbCast call-ins!!
Will Pete stop tonight?? Timon and Jefe on deck!!

Arm is better. I rode yesterday and it was a bit sore last night/this AM. But it is improving. Is MtbCast still accepting calls?

Looks like Jefe has had some navigational errors! he's corrected one pretty quickly, hope he makes a quick correction and turns around soon. Stoked to see Ian still plugging away at his 800 effort!

Yeah, the first one looks like he was enjoying the new Temporal Gulch singletrack a bit too much!! Haha. The second one in Gardner Canyon may have been an errant point, but either way he was back on route fairly quick. Timon seems to have some sporadic SPOT pings, but he is flying!! Could catch Jefe, he's only 10 miles or so back. Julie's off to a nice start too.
The three 800 riders are chugging along at a steady pace. Stay hydrated out there!! First blast of heat is upon us here in the desert southwest, low to mid-90's here in Phoenix through Saturday. Mid-upper 80's along the Gila River.

Was wondering about Timon's tracking, but dang... he's moving super quick through to Kentucky Camp! It'll be exciting to see if he can hold his effort. Anyone know what happened with Pete, looks like he stopped for some 11-12 hours?

Pete got a room at Highjinks ranch, he decided having fun was more important than a finishing time.
