I just used the search function and I found the azt water table on here posted a bunch of times in various threads over the years. Also search Fred Gaudet on the internet. One needs to do store research on their own IMO. That way you know the route.

In the beginning Scott didn't give out any water info. I made the water table intentionally vauge so that people would have to study the course. It's a race if anybody has made a way point file I doubt they would share.

Hey. Anyone that has run water bottles on their fork legs on this route, was it a big problem in any spots? I'm wondering if it would just be a huge pain on Oracle Ridge with all the bushwacking.
Thanks
I ran Salsa Anything racks on both fork legs last year with Kleen Kanteen growlers on each - clearly I was worried about water. The fork failed massively down by KY Camp and I had it locked out for the duration, but I think that was poor maintenance on my part. I'd say the only real thing to consider is to not get carried away with water volume - I did Oracle Ridge with both those growlers basically full and you can bet it was a bit of a pain! Well, that and make sure they're tied down (like, actually DOWN), well. Remember that this is an unsuspended location so you have to guard against those rascals launching.

Any info on specific snow detours for the 750? Links to the detours from 2010?
Thanks!

Unofficial response. Rely on Scott's response. Look here until someone official responds. http://topofusion.com/azt/gpx/2010/

Any GPS experts in the crowd? I left Idaho with what I thought was the .gpx track for the route (AZTR-2017-rev1.gpx) from topofusion but when I view it onto my Garmin 62s, it only shows a track from the border to the Tucson area. I'm at the library in Flagstaff trying to get this fixed but no luck so far. When I view the exact same file on www.gpsvisualizer.com, it shows the entire AZT route, but on my GPS, it only shows the truncated version. I'm not a GPS expert so any help would be appreciated. **DISREGARD** I got it all by my own self.

You probably need the simplified gpx file as most Garmins can only show 10,000 points per track. You can download it here: http://topofusion.com/azt/gpx/

Exactly. I limited the waypoints to 10,000 and then converted it in gpsvisualizer. Thanks, man.

This might explain why ADOT didn't want anyone on the road.

Haven't rode my bike in what feels like years, thinking of making a cannonball attempt at the 300 in the spirit of Mike Hall. Don't have a ride from Picketpost to the 300 start. Anyone shuttling down there by chance?

Interesting, yes. Good find, Jason, thanks. Dave Wicks was told it was not plowed out by ADOT, so it makes me wonder if only the portion they intend to work on got plowed. It's a step in the right direction, for certain, but road work isn't an ideal situation, either.

I will also be starting the 750 later, probably around April 21st from the border. Happy trails everyone!

My Grandma Helga wants to know if anybody has a best guess to when the AZT proper will be clear for tires from North Rim to Utah border?

Looks to me like the road will be open! Hoping anyways. I'm stuck for the April 7th start, and leaving Flag on the 18th. I thought AZ was suppose to be dry and hot?!

Good enough. I cleaned up the 2010 files just a slight bit and put it out as 2017: http://topofusion.com/azt/gpx/AZTR-2017-snowdetours.gpxAll of those lines are good to go. Taking the trail, if it looks good/passable, is encouraged (style points!) but the lower/drier routes are in play.

Road rode flag to pine. Lots of surface water and the tracks I looked at were soggy. Mainly where the azt crosses the road.
How good is that descent into strawberry and pine?
I carry a 2 for 1 coupon from Aus for my azt membership and I arrive at happy hour! I'll save it for the ride back up (the trail next time)
