Eszter takes the win and a new course record at 2:13:10!!!
Pete B was 2nd into Picketpost almost an hour ahead of Eszter -- 2:12:18. Pete described trying to hide his lights at one point, fearing Eszter would catch and bury him if she could see him from the distance!
Good stuff! Looks like Aaron Boatman is going for a late night and speedy 300 finish, the will be moving on with the rest of the 750!

Good work, Pete, also - forgot you weren't doing the 750. Great ride! Aaron G., never met you, but nice race!
My heart's in the 750, so I'm watching those guys pretty intently. Aaron Denberg is doing awesome right now - he stopped by the shop a few days prior to start on his way down south from Wyoming. Set him up with some proper desert tires and it looks like they're keeping the air on the inside!
Looks like Mark from Fall River Botanicals is on the infamous Oracle Ridge right now... go Mark go!
Scott, are we going to see you make a second run?

Yeah, Eszter is a badass.
Has anyone seen or heard anything from Fred Wilkinson on the trail? He doesn't have a spot and I'm just trying to figure out when he might be coming in.

I just got off the phone with Rich Wolf. He is in Summerhaven and has renamed it Slumberhaven while he waits for the store to open at 10am. He was in good spirits but said the HAB's were some of the toughest he has seen. Sounded like he had a good nights rest and was keen to push onto Oracle. He was also looking for Shelia, her spot wasn't tracking this morning, but now she's appeared up above Summerhaven. Maybe she was getting some good photos!!! Huge shout out to all the racers still out there! Congratulations to Aaron and Pete for their stellar finishes and words can't describe what Ezster did out there! Way to make us all proud! Pedal On Racers!!! Katherine And finishers - you get to sleep now!!!  |

Yahooooo just woke up from sleep! I got in today at 2days 21 hours and change! Attempt to do the final push with Big Dave not knowing how hard it was! It. Was. Tough. I can't believe what this trail has to offer, I'm very humbled! My fork blew out in the first 30 miles. I was certain I would have to call it. After deciding to sleep on it at la silva picknic area I biked into Tucson and bought a new fork at Broadway Cycles! Luckly they had a 100 mm laying around! This turned into the most expensive race ever!!!Oh we'll after my two hour detour in Tucson I was determined. Yahoooo time for some chips and guac!!!!!

Yeah, not to take away from the stellar and awesome display everyone is putting in for the 300, I checking 750 dots often. Clearly a couple hours split at the front, although unless his Spot's not working, Aaron B looks like he's been eating/resting quite a bit at the Superstition Mtn Drive mecca. Subway? J-in-B? Or something better. And now his and Max M's dots are together. Should be interesting. I'm guessing it's hot-hot and most are waiting for temps to cool down before moving on. There's been a bunch of dots waiting out the heat of the day at the Gila River crossing today too. |

Good work Neil! That's some solid determination to pick up a new fork and then roll it to the finish. 3 days is huge on this course. Congrats!
Looks like the Hortons and JC Cullen have aborted their climb up Lemmon, coasting down the highway after the Molino hike-a-bike.
Stoked to see Shelia and Rich W fighting it out on 'the Ridge.'
300 hundred finishers so far (in order):

Neil Beltchenko / Dave Wilson

Max Morris
Luke Jay

Really, really hoping to see Aaron Boatman rejoin the fight after meeting up with Max. Max's enthusiasm could be exactly what he needs to get back in the game and ride out the 750 to the win.
My stomach is still in shambles, so a restart is not looking likely in the near future, sadly.

Impressive! Nicely done! Sounds like the fork was rideable locked-out and rigid, which would have been fully rigid for you right? Did you consider finishing the ride with no suspension? Either way, good show for us watching from afar. |
