Here are coordinates for the bathtub spring:
33.01323° N 110.99251° W
When trying to enter these coordinates, my gps won't take that first 9. Any clue what's up with that? Should it be a 5? |

You'll need to covert degrees (decimals) to minutes and then seconds.....is this the issue, is this the skipped step?

Please remind me, how long did it take you to get from Pine to the top of Mongollon Rim? I know that this section is supposed to be a real bear.
From memory--I left Pine after a big meal & good resupply and hit the hike-a-bike at around noon. I pushed on till about 10:00pm. Next day I was up and moving down the trail by 4 or 5:00 am. Topped out around 7-8:00am. Lots of water thru this section + lots of snow melt in creek/drainage up on rim. Go into this section with plenty of cal's to get you to Flag for peace of mind & a patient 'smooth & steady' attitude and it's not so bad--just slow compared to other sections--psychologically it feels sort of like the big ditch except no people pestering you--less scenic but more enjoyable/relaxing in many respects.......... |

Scott or Tim,
After we reach the North Rim, what is the protocol for deciding whether we ride the route or take hwy 67 to Jacob's Lake Inn?
For example, if we see a sign saying that the trail is closed, then I assume we are allowed to ride the hwy all the way to Jacob's Lake Inn and connect back with the route just beyond that.
But, in the case where there is no sign, do we just look at the snow pack on the trail and decide for ourselves?

O.K. first my sewing machine starts acting in a way it has never before,and prevents me from finishing some bike bags ,to the shop it has to go.Then yesterday I decide I'll fully load the bike and ride it into work via some local trails for a final shakedown.On the way home the rear wheel locked up completely,To the shop it has to go .Should I ignore these obvious signs? |

about 15 hrs with mix of daylight and night-hit it 1st thing in morning for all daylight and it will basically take the full day-say about 12 hrs- unless trail conditions have been improved |

Anyone got any GPS tools for the Android that Don't Suck? Something I can load the tracks on, as a backup if the Garmin decides to take a well-needed break from my bike and I.

FYI- I found the 2pk ultimate lithium AAAs at best buy on sale. Cheeper to buy a few 2pks than one 4pk.
I have never used them. I guess they will work in my Etrex20? Anyone know how much they will extend the life of my gps? Now on standard batteries I get about 18-20 hrs. That's not a night with the back light on. If I spend the $ for the ULs I may not need to bring as many back ups?

Those batteries probably will not work on your Etrex 20...as the my Etrex 20 takes (2) AA. FYI - Costco and Sam's Club has AA Lith the cheapest I've found for bulk packs. They do not have AAA, in my experience. sorry to clog the AZT thread up with battery jibber. |
