Thank you Sean, I will look into topofusion and basemaps for sure.

Carbonguy, thank you, that worked perfectly.

Thanks Carbonguy for helping Matt out. I put a 10,000 point merged file up on the site tonight as well as a non simplified merged track for those wanting a bit more detail. I forget how confusing this stuff is for those who don't do it very often, it's still really tough for me to do as well.

That little tail in Tahoe city is not supposed to be there and is left over from last years course. If I can find a way up on to the TRT a little earlier we will be coming into Tahoe City that way anyways. Right now I'm leaning towards going up Western States at Alpine Meadows and heading over to the TRT that way, it would get us a bit more trail. I might even come down WS from Truckee via the Fiberboard Freeway and add a bit of really fun trail there as well as well as eliminating HWY 89, more dirt is always better and I like that option the more I think of it. I'm going up in the next few weeks to scout out some stuff and the track should be up and complete within the month.

I'm heading out this weekend to ride the section near Auburn as a loop connecting at French Meadows.

If you have anything I should know I'm all ears otherwise I'll update you all on Monday

Last Friday I road the WS from Robinson flat, Duncan canyon portion, back to robinson flat and down to road 44-2 via WS.  There are about 13 trees down on the portion of the WS from mile 95 to 96 on your link.  It won't slow you too much as the trees are not real big.

I Had a blast.  The logging operations and the recent rains have really messed up the trail at the beginning of mile 95.  But I can tell you know the trail well, so you'll have no problem staying on track.

Have fun.

Scott,
The track where it enters the Mammoth Bar OHV area is purely a guesstimate and you wont be able to follow my track in there. They are working on some of the trails I want in there and I want to see if they are jacked up before I send anyone down them or use an alternate. State Parks said they would be done by Memorial Day weekend but I've not been in there to get the track correct. Your best bet is to continue on down Culvert/Confluence from the Connector trail/FDLT. Everything else should be good.

Aaron and Jack had a problem around the Glenn Mine area last year. When I rode it last year my GPS was right on, but that was the GPS I used to create the track so perhaps one of them is off. There's a road off to the right in a flat opening as your headed up away from the bottom of that area. That's the one you want, it's pretty obvious when you get there, at least I think that is where they got misplaced. I think you have done Tahoe Sierra, it's the same course through there.

It's been cold here today and I would expect snow at Robinson Flat. Depending on where you end up for the night, expect low to mid 30's for the night time temps. I am headed from Nevada City to Sierraville over the weekend and I had to find all my cold weather gear as the temps are expected to be pretty cold in Sierraville. It will be colder up on the Divide.

Final route is up. This is what we'll be racing on come the 17th of July barring any fires.

I like it. It's a bit easier than previous routes but very challenging and the vibe has remained the same. Month and some change till go time.

Looks like there is missing elevation data for ~miles 103-112 and ~116-141. I could not get TopoFusion to add the missing information.

Any idea how much real interest there is in doing the race this year? I might be interested if I knew there were some riders similarly matching my ability. I am 55, ride a Specialized 29er hardtail with cane creek thudbuster to compensate.  I don't think I could sustain more than about 60 to 70 miles per day.  I toured about 150 miles of the route starting in south lake tahoe going clockwise about two summers ago. It's certainly a spectacular trail.

The Trackleaders process is underway. They won't have any Gen 3's available to rent, only the Trace. If you want the added safety of being able to send out check in's and or emergency notifications you might want to think about buying a Generation 3 model. I've been happy with mine and they are 50% off right now.

Agreed. I've had way better results with my Gen 3.

Count me in for the Grand Depart. Who else is joining in on the mayhem? Should we start a sign up page with contact info, so that we can connect? I'm tentatively planing to preride a portion of the route 7/3-7/5. Maybe check out the fireworks above Tahoe from a vantage point on the TRT.

B_Bock: How many days riding are you expecting for yourself to complete the race? I don't have any allusions of my being anywhere near your fitness/capability level!

the last time I rode the route it took me just under 4 days. I hope to be faster this year. Are you going to join us at the start?

Thanks to Blake we have a new addition to the course. The updated track is on the website. Only two folks signed up so far. Rather disappointing to say the least....

Just signed up. Hoping for glory. Predicting humility.

Small group thus far. Would have expected Aaron's awesome video to have generated more interest.

Wondering what other riders are doing to keep their electronics (Garmin, smartphone, lights, etc.) charged? Dynamo hubs and/or auxiliary batteries and/or available outlets during re-supplies?

I'm getting pretty excited out here in Santa Cruz but i'm going to do it wrong.

-Starting and finishing in SouthLake
-Connecting the loop at French Meadows
-Skipping the out-and-back to Auburn

That Raley's is really nice but I just want to ride around the lake and connect the sweet dirt. I rode the Auburn - Robinson flat - Western States section a couple months ago and don't feel compelled to do it again.

had to wait until the last minute to make sure it is a go. Sign me up...i'm in! I like the new route especially that it is a big loop, well done fellas.

What is the current status on the lakes and streams/rivers for reliable water (especially from the start to Soda Springs)?
