I hate to discuss a race before folks can view the maps, but it's already happening over here. Part of me questions why someone would want to travel as fast as possible through this spectacular section of the country, but I know a race will happen. So, here are some thoughts on making things interesting:

- 1 hour time bonus for every hot spring soaked in for at least 5 minutes (picture required, 1 time bonus per hot spring)
- 2 hour time bonus for every fish caught (picture required, limit of 10 fish)
- singletrack sections mandatory unless...
- at least 1 packrafting option which would be significantly faster then the bike course
- standard bikepacking race rules apply: Self-supported, no outside help, yada-ya..
- last weekend in September, or first weekend in October, start date. I'd like this to be as far away from Norb's Smoke and Fire 420 as possible so the two do not conflict.

Preliminary thoughts?

I like your time bonus ideas!

Any time bonuses for drinking a beer?
If so, what would the limit be?  \o/

I don't know what the question is - but the answer is: Lubrication!

Good call on not conflicting with Norb's Smoke/Fire.

I love the hot spring bonus idea.  And the optional packraft?  I would love to see that come to fruition.  I've thought about trying to allow rivers in CTR or AZTR to be run, but none work out all that well.

Watching with interest.

This Cascadian is all over racing that route, keep me posted, heck I'm willing to help administer it.  Also is there a link for the 420?  Sounds like my sort of race.

Looks like S&F420 info/link is "coming soon", according to the '14 Race Calendar thread.

I also like late Sept/early Oct.  That would give TD riders a chance to recover and then get in one more event before winter . . .

Heck ya! Now that's the spirit, Jay.

I haven't had time to put much thought into this these past 2 months, but now that everyone has the maps, I'd like to hear some more thoughts before coming up with the final outlook. See above for the rough details and proposed rules.

I think the above mentioned late-Sept/early-Oct will be the time to run this. The Smoke 'n' Fire race is starting on Sept 9th, and I do not want to have conflict with it.
